I upgraded to Karoo Mid 2, and some nights recently it's just as bad, i cannot watch streams etc. If I go over 30GB and have to pay £1GB more for what is an equivalent service it's so wrong - technical support said it's network congestion, not exactly what helen haynes promised in her emails.

just had a look around the forums and alot of people seem to be having the same problem, albeit at random periods, rather than a whole. speedtest comes out around 6-7mb/s everytime. but the speeds on usenet are all over the place for the last few nights post 12am the speed has been nowhere near what it usually is. normally it's around 700kbps up until around late afternoon. but now its lucky to go over 200kbps, but generally varies greatly; it's been less than 50kbps for the last few hours (now 20 as i type). usually when it gets towards the peak time, the speed never goes over 60kbps. but yesterday it was quite the opposite. less than 150 during the day, but shot up to ~500kbps during the peak time. are karoo really trying to get people to move from their old packages?? as at those rates i'd use up my peak usage fairly quickly (as i don't download anything at peak time, but this has kind of forced my hand) i'm on the (very) old option 2, which is unlimited 12am-6pm, 30GB usage 6pm-12am, but has a max of 8mb and 0.5mb upload

Bob,
Sundays are always a busy day on the net, from mid-morning onwards, and 20th was particularly busy, which will explain the poor speeds you experienced on your old Max option 2 package. Monday nights are also usually extremely busy and you will probably have seen quite low speeds from 4pm. Last night was much better and I expect this to continue until next Sunday when we will almost certainly see higher demand again. You would get a much more consistent speed experience on one of our newer packages, why not ask other forum members what they think of the Lite / Mid / Pro services? BTW, there is no speed difference between Lite, Mid, Mid 2, Mid 3, Pro or Pro 2, the only difference is the inclusive monthly download allowance.
Cheers

Bob, you will see an increase in speed....that's the point. You may not see an increase in sync speed but like for like, the newer packages are faster in terms of throughput speed. For example; a customer on Lite/Mid/Pro connected at say 4mbps will get faster throughput speeds during peak times then someone on Max option 2 connected at 4mbps. You just have to decide if the usage allowance is enough for you.

Which is true, most of the time. There have been instances lately where even the newer packages have stooped as low as 1-2Mbps during peak times. But on the whole they are generally faster, especially recently and past week or so

Bob,
The posts from bashdabish & adrian are spot on. You might not get any faster synch speed on ADSL2+ but you will be able to utilise more of your connection speed in peak time. PM me the phone number of your ADSL line and I'll put you on ADSL2+ without upgrading your package to see if we can get you a better synch speed.
The newer packages also offer better speeds for newsgroup / Peer-to-Peer downloads in peak times.
Mid 2 is the same price as Max Option 2, so if 30GB a month is enough download allowance for you then it's a no-brainer.
Cheers
