According to the wikipedia article & The Harvard Centre for Astrophysics these coronal ejections are expected to hit the Earth's magnetic field around:

8am today
6pm today
1am tomorrow
7am tomorrow

Might be some clear sky if you can stay up to 1am. Never know, might get a bit of a light show!

I just had a visit from two NextGen technicians today, they were very polite and friendly and understood the situation I was in with Kingston Communications. They arrived at exactly 9:55am and drove up in a small Nissan Van which was black, they soon got the equipment up and running in under 10 minutes, im not joking either. Luckily enough however they opted to use the old 6 foot pole which the One Point had installed back in September of 2009. My signal strength was at 50% resulting in an attenuation 20db down and 15db up, by this time I was pretty confident that I could receive the service without any problems but I was proven wrong immediately. According to the result of the speed test they had ran my upload speed was running extremely slow and averaged between 0.5 and 1 megabit per second, so to overcome this they opted to use a larger pole of around 8 foot but this was testing purposes only mind you. The results were pretty much obvious, my speed increased from 11 to 18 down and my upload from 1 to 5 up now all I need is a permanent  8 foot pole to mount the dish to.  Wink

Waiting to hear back from them.

When I had mine done Simon told me they'd had no problems with the 8 foot polls, even in rural areas where you would expect it to be an issue.

Thou even with an upload of 1 megabit per second I would shave still been happy bunny, due the fact that I download more than I upload.

So here is the summary:

18 megabit - down
1 megabit - up

26ms response time

I e-mailed NextGen a few days back and hope to hear back from them soon, but I am wondering if people here using the service can answer me a couple of questions before I properly invest in it. I was glad to see that their contract doesn't say anything along the lines of "No hosting...".

Right now I host various services from my own kitchen (nothing worthwile, I just like having a presence) using Dynamic DNS (With DynDns.org) and have had many problems with it being on KC, the only way I can have it work is by using USB ADSL modem right now.

On NextGenUs' system, I figure I won't be able to use this modem any more, what I want to know is what the NextGenUs equipment is like, is it like a normal router as-in, does it have a Web/Telnet management interface and through that, a facility to forward the ports (NAT) from my server?

Didn't think it was worth starting a new thread for this, thanks to anybody that can answer.

You should have been able to host services etc.. on your Karoo connection if you had a router. Once the IP Config is sorted out on Nextgenus you will be able to have your own router at the end so that you can forward any ports you want, alternatively you can use their kit for NAT and just request to have ports forwarded.
