Orange transmitters on there according to http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/
Suppose there could also be wimax transmitters sharing it though, there is a wimax transmitter near there according to coverage maps.

Edit: Found the other one I think on street view Very Long URL... O2 mast according to ofcom

No but when the engineers were setting mine up they were pulling the best signal from Hull University which had a 52meg tunnel, they also checked HRI & the one near Craven Park. they appeared to be quite a lot of antennas dotted around as Ricky had a list on his lap top of about 30 or so.. Grin

Looks like a mobile phone tower :-)

So is Airnet using actual WiMax for customer connections then? This confuses me quite a bit because from this picture here, it looks like they are using Ubiquiti Nanostation kit, and as far as I can see (although it's much cleverer than your average WiFi router) this equipment does not support WiMax.   Undecided http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/ns2_datasheet.pdf

Also, I believe that WiMax licences aint cheap Cheesy http://www.eweekeurope.co.uk/news/freedom4s-wimax-licence-sold-to-pccws-uk-broadband-8035

As far as I know all the WISPs are using Wireless N in the 5.8Ghz frequency... Maybe licenced frequences for the Point to Point microwave tunnels etc.. for backhaul but WiMAX does require licencing so I doubt they will be using WiMAX.

Thought as much. It doesn't help with it being advertised as WiMax when it isn't!

I considered them being phone mast stations but i've reviewed several pictures of the dishes airnet/nextgen use and i zoomed in and had a close look at the dishes ontop of this big tower, They where identiclal to the ones they use, And come to think of it, it would be very cheap and easy to build a tower here and get permission as theres alot of open unused ground.
