I felt I had to post this, as praise is deserved when it is due.

New Karoo Customer - My experience so far.

Having recently moved to Hull from York, I found this site about a month before and got a bad indication that Karoo was going to be a terrible internet provider. I found it hard to believe than any company could fall short to BT (previous provider), but this website made me think so. This worry was further provoked by the fact I assumed I would receive shocking speeds on my rather long line of 4.7km.

However, I have been pleasantly surprised throughout the whole installation, and the delivery of the broadband.

Speeds - Much better than what I expected, and very stable, even during the peak hours. Disconnections are non-existent.
Ping/Latency - Better than I could ever imagine, VERY stable and consistent. Gaming is fantastic.
Customer Service - The best customer service and call centre staff I have ever dealt with, with any company. The staff understand all the technical terms I use, and are more than willing to try my suggestions out to up the speeds - which worked.

So in conclusion,
Thank-you Karoo, and well done.

Previously, with BT; I recieved 0.8Mb/s download and 0.3mb/s upload. Pings ranged from 55-80. Customer service was diabolical

The customer support is outstanding. All local, British people - you cannot beat that!

I have been with many BB providers in my time; BT, Sky, AOL, NTL, and none of the customer support is anything like the quality of Karoo.

They listen to you, and act accordingly, and don't make you wait 45 minutes in a huge cue.
As for speeds and pings, i'm probably over the moon because I have had to deal with 0.8/0.3 with BT for the last 5 years.

I am forced to agree also, having had regular dealings with both consumer and business support over the last year they have improved significantly  Shocked

I think that the market opening up (albeit very slightly!) in Hull has lead Karoo to re-evaluate how they deal with customers. It's been a while now since I've heard of a Karoo employee rolling out old the tongue in cheek response 'if you don't like it go somewhere else'.

This is a good thing and only goes to show that competition does drive service improvement  Grin

You may well be right Dylan but that's going to be one hell of a long drive... Roll Eyes I wouldn't go back to Karoo if they offered me 50meg free of charge and a fortnights holiday in Barbados... Cool
They have happily taken my money for the past 18 months for a crap service and then just bullshit reply to my questions... Angry

The funny thing is - the day after I created this thread, Karoo went down for a whole afternoon. Shocking.

Try changing your DNS servers to either opendns: 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220 or google dns: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
