Ah, so there not boosting speeds past 24meg for the time.

Althought when they have the fibre in place upping the speed beyond 24meg should be fairly simple.

@adamr8965

I doubt the capacity will be increased just yet. I have been told that once this transition is well under way, Upload capacity may be increased where possible.

Excellent good news for the people who need, i suppose most kc customers would kill for a connection that i have. I suppose kc just want to make it better for the people.

Will they be a price difference at all?

500metres for example will become 50metres (ie: time is takes for information to travel through the fibre).. So in turn it will have a huge impact on Line attenuation..
I would have thought it would be better than that seen as though Fibre-optic cables deliver data at the speed of light... Smiley

@adamr8965

KC will not charge more for changing their infrastructure, or should i say 'they shouldnt but probably will'..

Yes most people would love a connection like yours.. But the main sticking point for most is the bandwidth allowance's.. I would happily have a 7mb/7mb type connection and know that i can happily download all day with having to watch my limits.

Exactly, 24mb speeds with such small allowances on bandwidth isn't value for money or practical.

The way I see it is, cause you get a faster speed, doesn't automatically mean you'll download more, for example I have a 16 meg connection, I can vary between 20-50 GB downloads per month looking at the karoo usage meter, if my connection was to be faster I don't think i would download anymore, just get the same things but quicker. Obviously if you're one of these people that has stuff running 24/7 then it might be different.
