.. yesterday i spoke to talktalk the chap in question was based at the call centre based in hull.

I run the ask them to stop calling me asking to join, i explained i was in contract with kc untill june next year, and that they couldnt supply talktalk on kc lines.

He response was that talktalk are in talks with kc to start supply there products down kc lines, he gave no sort of timescale but reckoned it was going to be mid next year.

So things maybe looking for all you guys with no other choice at the moment.

If this happened, the amount of people changing will be huge.

Karoo are screwed, once anyone offers some sort of alternative, because of the resentment people have built up against them, because of the fact that KC don't give the people of Hull choice, when the rest of the country get a wide variety.

If I was Karoo, I wouldn't let anyone in.

Since I'm a customer, I say 'PLEASE LET TALK TALK IN'

As I have said before bud the lines Karoo are using are ancient and in my opinion, in the majority of Hull, are not capable of offering any sort of decent supply regardless who's supplying...

Although a lot of people would jump ship, I think kc would still benefit as talk talk would still be paying kc to use their lines or exchanges. Personally I don't see talk talk being able to offer a better service than KC anyway, just a cheaper one, which isn't always the best thing. Looking at the forums for them on think broadband their customers have problems as well. http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/talktalk.html

I really don't understand how this would effect KCs' market grip on Hull because if Talk Talk strike this supposed deal they will not be able to offer a better service than what you already receive. This is because Talk Talk would have use of Kingston Communications network if this happens, hence the connection speeds will be identical and in-fact even slower given the priority likely to be assigned to the traffic.

Sorry to say this but its true, god I feel like the bearer of bad news lately.

Spot on regarding TalkTalk customer service; my dad lives in South Yorkshire, signed up for TalkTalk and 3 months of phone calls, letters, emails etc later they still hadn't connected his broadband, excuse after excuse. Cancelled, signed up with Sky, 5 days later broadband connected and working. Says a lot doesn't it?

At this point, can I draw your attention to a website of three partners based and from Hull that are currently in talks with KCom about LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) they have plans to start laying fibre from doncaster to Hull in the 1st quarter of next year. This will bring Hull into the 21st century. Although they will be connected to KC's exchanges the fact that they are laying new fibre lines Not supplied by Affinity, A Kcom affiliate, Should bring the speeds up in Hull.

http://www.mediasat3.com

At the minute they're asking people to go over to that site and register their interest in getting a new ISP in Hull. these numbers will be taken over to ofcom, who are backing the cause already, and Tell karoo that they must let these people LLU to allow fair competition.

I have a sneaky feeling that Talk talk will be offering their provisions over these new fibres.

It may well of been talked to death, but as you can see from my posts, I'm fairly new around here.

Of course if this has been talked to death then ignore it, But it can do no harm, nor does it tie you or give you any responsibility by popping over to their site and registering your interest. it literally takes 30 seconds and if it never happens then its only 30 seconds of your life wasted. I for one am praying that this goes ahead. And no, I have no links with this company.
