Yeah it's also on the HDM site http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/news/Prospect-cheaper-KC-deals-regulator-ahead/article-2737837-detail/article.html

People are still having a good moan about the monopoly so I've posted about me moving to Airnet  Grin

It's surprising how many people just don't know there are alternatives beginning to emerge.

Nice post on the HDM article lets hope a few pay attention, then KC might actually feel they have competition, I wonder if this is just another way of tying in people to a 12 month contract before Airnet / Quickline get a foothold!

Just had a look through the KC price manual. Some of you may be aware but KC have been offering bundles in Driffield and possibly their other expansion areas for a while, it is likely that the new KC bundles for Hull will look something like this:

http://www.kcomplc.com/eastyorkshire/pricemanual/P02-S13_Res_Off-Net_Special_Offers.htm#driffield

Looking at the bundle deals there, KC Talk & Surf Plus is effectively the Karoo Broadband PRO (£30pm) and KC Anytime (£20 - old Talk 4) phone packages joined, so without a bundle £50pm.

So instead of paying £50pm, it effectively brings the price down to £30pm for BOTH services for the first 3 months, then rising to £35 thereafter. If it is an 18 month contract you would be saving £285 (with the promo offer) in that period.

Quite big savings Smiley

But would the quality of service be any better... Huh?

They have to stop the throttling. If not on all packages, at least offer packages without it. That's the only way they're going to compete now other providers are offering unlimited/unthrottled (is that a word?) services.

That's a handsome saving, I'm sure they will snare many customers into signing up to new contracts with this.

Yea the throttling seems to have become quite harsh again lately, I'll be raising this at the next advisory meeting. However I think there is ongoing improvements being made to the network so we may just have to wait it out...

The bundle deals should represent much better value for most people, particularly if they fit within the bandwidth offering (100GB and unmetered midnight-8am) - I guess they could really tempt people across if they offered more bandwidth on that package, such as 125GB or even up to the same amount of bandwidth as Pro 2, 150GB - This would be in their interests as it would secure in customers for another 18 months who may be on the fence - guess we'll see Smiley

I agree, it should see people on the fence *probably* stay with Karoo. With that said I am very much hoping it doesn't put anyone off switching to Airnet or NextGenUs in the coming months, they've shown the future to Hull, and it's a bright future at that!

The smiling and pulling faces is even she can't believe the "superfast broadband" bull she is coming out with.

At the moment I pay £19.49 for Broadband which is unlimited off peak but slow as shit at peak times and £11.49 for my Phone on KC Local.

So that's like £30.98 hmmm so if they do offer effectively what the people in Driffield get, I might actually do it for ADSL2+ as at the moment I am only on 8Mbps.

We shall see if they offer us such a good deal.

Mike
