My mate and his wife have just gone their separate ways and he is staying put at the address they once shared. Although married, the phone and internet were in his wife's name so he rang to get the name changed on the accounts.

KC/Karoo have made him enter new 12 month contracts on both. The direct debit will still be coming out of the bank account it always has and no other changes have been made.

He's skint at the moment while he sorts out his finances (paying the mortgage on his own and such like) or he would have dropped them like lead balloon and signed up to Airnet but he just doesn't have the installation fee at the moment.

I know all businesses probably work the same way but I still think it stinks!

You sure he's only changed the name on the account? From previous experience changing account details like this doesn't enter you into a new contract.

He's sat here with me now (a little drunk but still Compos mentis) And says that's what they said when he rang them. Does he have a cooling off period? The call was made nearly two weeks ago. Should he contact them again demanding the switch over takes place without tying him to new contracts?

He wasn't given the any other option than to take what was on offer re the broad band. But it did enable him to take it cheaper for the first 3 months. The phone line is the same price though but with a 20 quid switch over.
