Hi, new user with karoo broadband, currently on their top package.
I got sent out the wireless router, intending to use it due to being in a student house, so all my house mates could get the internet as well. However, the internet connection on the laptops seems to keep getting knocked off after a day.

I've tried all sorts of settings, assigning static IP's, changing broadcast channels, changing the broadcast type from 802.11g/b/n to a normally recognisable 802.11g signal and still no luck in resolving the problem.

It seems that after the day (this could be with me switching off my computer which the router is connected to) the laptops lose the internet connection and only have limited access. They cannot obtain the gateway IP (I've checked via cmd->ipconfig /all) and the entry is blank.

I'm struggling to think what the problem is, but my only thought could be a firmware fault when there is an ethernet cable in the router which isn't in use (when my pc is turned off) that it resets the gateway IP?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah similar to what dunny said really, I started off with a Netgear router and has similar problems but Karoo wouldn't help because I wasn't using their supplied router... Angry So I changed over to the Karoo supplied router (Thompson TG585) and still had connection issues but typically Karoo blamed everything but their own equipment... Angry
Now I've changed to Airnet and happy days are here again... Cheesy
I think your best starting of calling the Karoo help desk in the first instance, you can always slit your wrists afterwards.. Sad
Good luck.. Wink

I use the exact same router, and this does not happen to me whatsoever, with multiple laptops connected wirelessly to the Karoo connection.

Looks like it could be some sort of router fault, possibly resetting itself?

Ring customer support, if they can't solve the issue, they will/should send you a new router out. On the bright side, customer support is one of Karoo's strongest elements.

Good luck.

Hi! Sorry to hear about the problems you're having. It could be a fault with the router itself but best thing is to call Technical Support 606101. They're open until 9pm.

Thanks
