Its more likely to rain laptops, than for BT to consider coming here.

So I asked BT this:
Please enter the details of your query: I would like to know why, if BT have decided to start laying fibre lines across the country, that the area covered by Kingston Communications will not be included in this or any future plan to roll out fibre networks?

Kingston Communications are now under obligation to allow other ISP's to LLU (Local Loop Unbundle) with OFCOM Backing any company that is willing to lay the fibre lines into Hull. Therefore the regulatory powers that be have essentially ended the monopoly of Hull, But without the backing of companies like BT we will fall into an industrial backwater. It would be highly appreciated to get an answer to this question.
thanks and regards
Karl

To which they replied:

Hi Karl,

The official response from Ofcom at the moment is as follows "BT Fixed Line Services are not currently available in the Hull area where KCom has been designated by the regulator Ofcom as Universal Service provider", if and when new legislation is introduced that changes this fact it will be investigated by the relevant BT departments ie. Legal and future service plans based on the outcome of that investigation.

At this time i cannot comment more on this issue I'm afraid if only because there is no more information available, i can however assure you that if the area in the future becomes available to BT then the possibility of BT providing services there will be taken very seriously and announced at a local level. Thank you for taking the time to write to me and have a good week.

More dissapointment on the BT front then. Seems like were basicly waiting on the OFCOM ruling.

As a side note I find it funny when people say things like "have a good week", what about the rest of their lives?
