The website just gives an average for your area, some will be higher some lower. You're one of the luckier ones Cheesy

Not happy, £30 a month and still getting throttled, can usually download at 1650KB/s to 1700KB/s but running at 135KB/s at the moment.  Angry

Yeah, good point - I neglected to even look at the upload for some reason..

@ Ayreon

You sure its not just the server/location you are downloading from? Try a speed test, and post your results.

Modem reports;
Down: 8190K
Up: 1021K

I've just realised I never said what packege I use, I have Karoo Mid and still appear to be billed if I go over 10Gb... Can't be bothered with correcting it because I doubt I will be renewing my contract - even though my only other option is mobile broadband.

Edit: You know... these speeds don't seem to be accurate to me and there has been a huge increase in ping. Either my modem is going faster than reported or both sites are lying, though I have tampered with my line somewhat and there were men messing with the lines outside as well yesterday... Hmmm.

@xScotteYx; It's ADSL G.992.1 (G.DMT), my modem does not support ADSL2+ - ADSL1 in this form is theoretically capable of 12Mbit/s down and 1.3Mbit/s up.

Interestingly some forms of ADSL2+ are theoretically capable of 24Mbit/s down as we know but it is also capable of 3.3Mbit/s up. Personally I think Karoo are selling the G.DMT stuff I am using and negotiating it as ADSL2+ - what a rip off!

From my modem, it tells me that my connection type is G.992.5.

This means karoo are actually selling ADSL2+

Have you thought about upgrading to a ADSL2+ modem through karoo? You will see an increase in speed.

This man speaks the truth - I have had Karoo try many different things on my line, and together we determined the sync speed which gave me the best results. As I have stated before, the customer service is excellent.

I got him to try many different sync speeds and capping levels, to get the best possible speeds, must of tried around 6-7, and I finally found the best speed my line could handle. Since then, we have received stable and consistent speeds, even during peak times..

I second what you have said about ringing them, it does work.
