@xScotteYx; It's ADSL G.992.1 (G.DMT), my modem does not support ADSL2+ - ADSL1 in this form is theoretically capable of 12Mbit/s down and 1.3Mbit/s up.
Well theirs your problem get a new modem!

Personally I think Karoo are selling the G.DMT stuff I am using and negotiating it as ADSL2+ - what a rip off!
Sorry but i had to laugh at that. KC do give people ADSL2 modems/routers with the connection if you except their offer of a free one or buy one from them.

I've tried and can not find an ADSL2+ modem, and Karoo will not provide people with modems, only routers, and I have asked them several times. It is somewhat frustrating really, even more these days with everybody using Airnet/Nextgen and likely not even really taking advantage of those connections. Come to think of it, there's no point, given that I only have it until November anyway,

I have tried an ADSL2+ router before and it connected at 12Mbit/s - funny thing is, KC don't know that they sent me that router.

Nah, my point about their services not being ADSL2 is that nobody (or very few people) recieve speeds faster than ADSL1 G.DMT, so I often question wether they are sending that as an ADSL2+ signal when really it is just G.DMT.

Just set the router in bridge mode thats what i do, as i use an old p3 dell as a router. This effectively turns it into an ethernet modem.

@ Ayreon

You sure its not just the server/location you are downloading from? Try a speed test, and post your results.

Sorry it's took so long to reply, but here's a couple of tests i've done today. Uptill about 6 pm all is ok then......

It's still working... This was using ADSL1 G.DMT

I plugged my ADSL2 router in and got this...

Makes my point look valid... I'm gonna take that piece of crap off my network now so things will actually do what they are supposed to again. I'm oudda here.

Do KC lines automatically switch to ADSL2 when you put the correct equipment on or do you have to inform them?

If you're on a new package and your equipment supports ADSL2+ then it will auto use ADSL2+ I think the standard profile allows for ADSL or ADSL2+ but not just ADSL2, I think they will enable it on request though, sometimes with a high attenuation line using ADSL2+ can be worse due to the increased frequencies of ADSL2+.

I'm getting 1.5MB/s of rapidshare, and the mrs is able to stream last nights strictly at the same time without a problem.
