And here's the test again: This time at 23:29, a little better...

Looks like they have sorted it off peak, I would just like a bit more speed on BT during peak hours and then I will be a (little) bit happier about the service. Although with KC when we probably don't complain anymore it will go back to being crap again..

I'm also getting the best I've had in a long while.

I'm actually connected at: Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 3,872  which isn't bad considering I'm supposed to be capped at 3meg. It's been connected at that speed since last night so I'll keep an eye on it to see how long the stability lasts.

After asking Karoo to up my adsl synchronisation speed back up to 8 meg (the line looked stable), and then going over and downloading a file from the internet, It's coming down at a sustained 848kB/s

That's not bad at all!

I wonder if someone over at Karoo has finally started to sort out the profiles.

I'll test again later....

Hmm, suprising or have KC added 'speedtest.net' to the sites not affected by the shaper? My torrents are struggling.

Hey Mike - I dunno mate. I was downloading from the ubuntu.com server and not speedtest.net in that case. I wonder if Karoo are doing stateful packet inspection on traffic, and just hammering the speed on people using bittorent?

Are you using non standard ports etc ?

Yup, to be honest I am not that bothered, I was getting 800Kb/s on one off peak this afternoon, so I dont mind taking a hit peak time. Its things like BT which should take the hit and not HTTP IMO.

If it stays like this I will be ok with it, I am getting about 80Kb/s - 100Kb/s on peak which I can live with if I can get stuff at warp speed off peak I will just make sure I schedule better.

Hi Kersy, any idea how far you are away from the exchange? Also - do you reckon you could post the line stats too? You should be able to get these from your modem router.

Oh and hello!

Dylan.

Hi Dylan, thanks for the welcome
Im currently living on North Bransholme, not sure were the local exchange is, these are the line stats below:

Status > ADSL Line

Line Mode G.dmt                      Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave          Line Up Time Duration 00:00:00:01
Line Coding Trellis On              Line Up Count 200

Statistics                Downstream Upstream
Line Rate                  704 Kbps    448 Kbps
Attainable Line Rate 832 Kbps    948 Kbps
Noise Margin            6.4 dB         18.0 dB
Line Attenuation      45.5 dB       31.5 dB
Output Power          12.2 dBm    15.6 dBm

Things seemed a little bit better when i had a quick check at 6pm got about 1500kbs (someone was supposed to have looked at it today) but been online tonite and the lines been dropping like crazy again and getting 763kbs when it is working. I have also tried a different router and the fault was still there

Loading the karoo homepage and refreshing it seems to wake up the connection for a short time, but still annoying only happens after 8pm (when I want to use it).
