Ok so the story is I rang Karoo regarding my issue with random disconnects and below par speeds, especially during peak times. They decided that my line needed further investigation and sent me an engineer this morning at roughly 8:30am.

Well the engineer went back and forth from the exchange, to my house and the various points in my house to try and diagnose my problem. Just to note, I have a reletively long line as it is and already on a 'long line profile'.

The engineer did quite alot of tests before, during and after any changes made. His conclusion was to move me 'further up the line' and changed which port I am on, he also changed which twisted pair my internet run down.

So far I have not had chance to use the connection much as he has only just left at roughly 13:30pm, thats 5 hours work on just one line. I did however have a number of problems, some were internal wiring and some external which I believe have been corrected.

Needless to say this is, I think, outstanding work done by the KC engineer. Who is actualy from Geordie land and an ex BT engineer. Also to note, there were a number of people who were not in work today for KC which is why he had to go back and forth to the exchange.

My line so far seems to be loading web pages faster (mainly the images and flash adverts), I also note that the line stats themselves haven't changed much except for my upload db which has dropped from 20db to 6db (Mainly because I have gone up to about 1Mb upload from 0.4Mb). I will use it abit more to see if the stability issue is resolved, but I have a good gut feeling that it will be.

Ohh and this didn't cost me a penny!

The engineers av usually always been good.  It's the donkeys you speak to in tech support that do knack all to sort things out.  Also think KC maybe starting to take notice to people voting with their feet and moving to other providers.
