i'm starting to think that KC maybe doing what VM does, when you hit a certain download amount the traffic shaping gets worse. yesterday i was able to download 300KBps from an NNTP server during peek, today i have downloaded quite a lot of stuff via steam and at around 7PM my NNTP download hit 9KBps and have not increased in speed since. i believe the amount i have downloaded today is just a little over 10GB. Could they be doing this or is it just coincidence?

I noticed something like this once when I was t... Purchasing a game online, I dropped from 990Kbit/s to 75Kbit/s

At the time though, I was still using my old networking equipment which did stuff like that sometimes, after a couple of hours the speed came back when I downloaded other things.

I've often questioned wether there is a hidden limit though, they probably try to give everyone a chance of a decent connection and cut the ones that have been making use of the speed all day.

Or they could chuck a few more Bandwidth logs on the fire :-P Everyone's a winner, except KC I guess as it costs them more to provide the service.

You necro-posted just for that?  Roll Eyes

KC only charge that much because OFCOM/The Law will not allow them to charge any less.
