Evening all o/

Got a bit of a problem .....  Huh?

Been using the Thomson TG585 v7 router from Karoo over the last few months and TBH it's a bag of crap, so i dug out me old WAG54GS Linksy router. The thing is i can't get it to stay stable on ADSL+2 (G992.5) running firmware 1.01.03, green light comes on then goes off b4 it can connect  Angry tried to connect on the ADSL2 (G992.3) setting and no joy either  Undecided  Only way i can connect is to set it up on G.dmt (G992.1)  Undecided

I'm on the new mid 2 package atm and would like to use the Linksy if possible but also take advantage of the extra bandwidth i'm paying for without having to use the Thomson router so what am i doing wrong Huh?

Dual booting atm between W7/XP, not working under ADSL+2 or ADSL2, works fine with G.dmt under both.

Had a lot of experience with the wag54gs, Simple answer, Don't use it for ADSL2+.. Although it has the option to be used in router settings, It is seriously unstable.. I spent hours trying to stabiles a connection with this router on adsl2+ and came to the conclusion that the router just doesn't cope very well.. Switched to a netgear and problems immediately solved..

netgear dg834gt is a very well known, very well used router and will offer you many benefits. You can pick these up for £15-£20 on ebay.

What El says is just about right mine was one of the later versions that was supposed to work with adsl 2+ however for some strange reason it would only work with no encryption
I have been playing about with my line settings with some help from El and dug out my old linksys to try it again it did connect and was better than my Thompson but kept dropping out so now back on the standard issue Thompson.

Install this firmware http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=9d87f424360a01c8ab1eab3e9fa335ca2ed4ccc206b2f22e

It is for your model router and allows you to tweak things here and there, Its kind of like a modification firmware for your router..

I use it and its very good and well used by many many people.  Wink

Yep DGTeam firmware is very good as it allows access to settings and info that was hidden in the official firmware.
