You can't really buy a router specifically for working best with Karoo.. But from personal experiance i have used 9 different routers whilst using karoo and the one which gives the best speeds/stability and has lots of future proof options is the Netgear DGN2000

I've had Thompson/Edimax/Netgear and back on a new Karoo Thompson now...it appears to be doing the job ok at the moment, but then again I'm not sure what noticeable difference one makes against another TBH...

Hardly any difference from one router to the next for the average user.
But I would reccomend anything from D-Link, though the model depends on what you want to do (such as if you want wireless N, G or no wireless and such).

I might try a DGN2000 have you ever tried a netgear DGN3500 http://www.netgear.co.uk/dgn3500.php Interested in the gigabit Ethernet ports so my PCS connect to each other at gigabit. Probably best to stick with one that is known to be good...

The DGN2000 is an excellent choice and as i said, one i use now, Can't ask for a better router and for the cost its not bad at all,
I havent tried the DGN3500 but have read reviews about them, They aren't bad routers but can't give a personal opinion as i haven't used them before.

Install this firmware http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=9d87f424360a01c8ab1eab3e9fa335ca2ed4ccc206b2f22e
It is for your model router and allows you to tweak things here and there, Its kind of like a modification firmware for your router..
I use it and its very good and well used by many many people. WinkThe setting up should be very straight forward @grabo, Make sure you post some results and router stats so we can compare from your old stats on this forum

I take it that its just the latest single image thats in english in the ra folder that I use to flash the one named "DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1018_eng_adsldrv026.img"
and ignore all the other ones ?

I would hold off changing your modem/router for the moment as most modems at the moment only support IPv4 and it is unclear as yet exactly what will happen as the internet shifts to IPv6 and as standard IP address allocations are due to run out either this year or next year and v6 addresses get allocated instead. you may end up having to get a modem that supports the new type of IP address, some sites are saying that the new addresses may not be accessible with old equipment but I cannot say this is the case as yet as everyone knows how rumours get started on the internet and suddenly become fact with no evidence.
new equipment is starting to get released that supports IPv6 so if you are going to change look for one that does as it might stop you laying out twice for a new modem.

I wonder about this IPv6, given that you can access it without an IPv6 address... I assume that ISPs would probably "translate" for you at first anyway (e.g. you have an IPv4 address with your ISP but the world sees you as an IPv6 address).

I hope they will translate it but who can be sure at the minute, Karoo certainly won't tell us what they are going to do in the future until just before they do or don't do it, also if your modem supports IPv6 it may well run faster as no translation would be needed.

Right ok, Speeds arent any better but i'm pretty certain stability will be better, also the stats are at peak time when speeds slow down, so try rebooting your router tomorrow between 8am and 4pm and you will see the kind of router stats that we can compare with your previous..
Was the setting up of the router ok?
You do have a tweaking option to lower you 'SNR' margin so you can obtain greater speeds.. This is in the router settings under 'advanced adsl settings'.. you will see a bar which says 100% next to it, Reduce that to 50% and post your results and do a speedtest.
Oh, when you move the bar to 50% you need to apply the settings at the bottom of the page and wait for the router to reboot.
