I found some very informative and usefull information from this first link below on how ADSl connections work as such, I have often noticed many users on this site query about certain aspects of their connection such as attenuation and SNR so I just though I would create this topic in regards as a response, I certainly hope this helps. This second link directs you to a tool that is used to calculate the maximum speed you can possible achieve on your DSL line by using the attenuation db as a reference. Let the fun times ensue  Cheesy

Calculator seems very accurate, it was more or less right about my old line stats and achievable speed.

Good post, thanks!

Says I should get 6Mbit/s on ADSL2+ but I get 9.4Mbit/s on G.DMT already...
And that's why I kick ass.

And that's why Sonic Drift sucks!

Edit: I should probably add that my current modem is hanging on by a thread and it's facility to show line stats is disabled at a driver level by default so the stats it reports probably aren't accurate.

If I don't buy me new 80286 then I might splash out on a new D-Link Router instead... Actually, that would be awesome because I will finally be able to get my network back on the 10.X.X.X IP Scheme that the older LANTastic/NT systems use instead of having to use another server to translate everything for them.
