Dear Customer

We wanted to update you on the progress of our ongoing programme to improve broadband performance and network resilience for all of our customers.

You may be aware that KC has invested £4m over the past year to upgrade our core network and provide a better platform for the launch of new products and next generation services in the future. This will also improve the reliability of our network, meaning an even better online experience for you.

Our aim is that you and other KC customers will have the fastest most resilient ADSL2+ network in the UK.

As part of this aim, we are continually reviewing how to give you the best experience possible – and part of this is planning for increased demand on our network, as we all use the internet more and more for things like video streaming (e.g. BBC iPlayer). Because of recent increases in demand, we have decided to invest further in additional bandwidth capacity to improve performance during peak times (when our network is at its busiest, usually between 7-10pm).

We are expecting that until this additional capacity is installed, some customers may experience a slower connection speed than normal during peak times.

We have ordered the additional capacity and expect this to be in place by early March.

We know that our Karoo Lite, Mid and Pro services are amongst the fastest ADSL2+ services in the UK and the additional capacity we are putting in place will ensure that this is the case, regardless of when you choose to go online.

KC

So the price goes up 16p+VAT and the service gets worse.

OK.

How about, I pay them less until March when I have more money (it's OK, i've put in a loan application and it should clear in March).

Alternatively, I could quit work and use the internet during the day, and probably get the social access package too.  It will be faster and I'll pay less, and it'll be more convenient for Karoo.

I am of the opinion that it will be a Karoo farce anyway, the amount of bandwidth probably will be insignificant to make any impact, or the traffic management will kick in and knock you down regardless because of the blanket settings.

I seem to recall Karoo have stated this will be on line from March but have they said how much extra they are putting into the service ,and  how much it will benefit users ,certainly users that have a superb connection but get shaped down to unusable and unreasonable limit ,I think that those people will only see a minimal improvement ,

I hope I am wrong but I do think it not just the amount of bandwidth that’s a problem but the way that it’s managed .
