Hi Andy,

Yeah, I'm seeing the problem too.
Code:

 9  194.117.136.166 (194.117.136.166)  24.753 ms  23.610 ms  25.208 ms

I'm not a networks expert but it seems that KC peer with Telewest at the Manchester Network Access Point, it would appear that Telewest have a router involved somewhere along the line that is either overloaded or jiggered. This could be what is causing your ping spikes.

I checked out the info from your gaming server provider and it looks like they have a gigabit feed to Telewest. That'll be why traffic is crossing from KC to Telewest at Manchester to get to your server.

If Fastethernet is about he'll no doubt point you in the right direction (and tell me I'm full of rubbish!) as he knows what he's on about re: networks.

Dylan thanks for your reply

but the karoo help desk said

because the wind is blowing out onto the north sea and not south we are having some issues but do try the following

turn all lights off in the house

turn telly off

unplug all microfilters

turn off all laptops and computers

and remember the good old days

Hi Andyucs,

Welcome to the forum  Grin

I have run some tests from several networks outside of Krapoo, from other networks there are only 6 hops and the latency is low. There seems to be an issue with the Telewest routers Krapoo's traffic is being routed by, a few of them keep spiking high latency. I would speculate Krapoo have either lost a link to telewest and are having to use another route or Krapoo have changed service providers. If its the former then sit tight, Krapoo will only flap for a week or so and get the link up again, if it's the latter then start looking for another hosting company  Angry

i suppose the only way to win is colocate my gaming server is at karoo's kingson House

but as usual what costs me £100 per month colaction in London l would be talking £1000 per month in Hull

i did complain to kcom before over this when we could not even ping our server

i asked help desk to let me speak to a manager

they did let me and he assured me there was no problems untill i asked him to do a trecert and it was fixed within 2 hours

we can only pray as this has now been going on for over a week now

Reply From Kcom

Thank you for your email to Technical Support.

I've just run traceroutes to all of your servers, and they all now take 10
or 11 hops and have low ping times.
Are you still experiencing this issue?

Should you require any further technical assistance, please don't hesitate
to get back in touch.

asked him to check tonight as they have settled
