Hi,
We are about to move and as we are changing address and there are two wannabe online gamers in the house we thought we might go for the MAX 4 option and get the free wireless router. We were told we couldn't get it as, even if we set up a new account at the new address we would have to wait 3 months. IS THIS ALLOWED???

But, perhaps more shady - I asked how much the router was and they said £69.99 - so I asked why it said 'save over £100.' I was told that the set up charge was £30. When I asked where I could find details of the set up charge the man got shirty and huffy, in the way that only people getting paid the minimum wage by the company they are protecting seem to manage. He basically accused me of not understanding the contract.

Question: is the fact they seem to be making up the saving legal?

Terms and Conditions

The maximum broadband connection speed is subject to line quality and distance from the exchange. If your line won't support speeds of up to 8Mbps, you'll receive the best speed your line can support, which provides a stable service.
**Unlimited broadband subject to a Fair Usage policy.
†Offer price of £14.99 for first 6 months, £16.99 per month thereafter. Offer only available to new Karoo customers and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Subject to a 12 month contract.
††Free activation and free hardware only available to new Karoo Broadband customers, who have not received Broadband services from Karoo for a period of three months prior to the date of the order for Broadband Max.
#Downloads capped at 2GB per month usage with prioritised service. Additional usage is charged at £2 for each additional 2GB.
oAll prices are only available if you pay by Direct Debit. Add £1 for other payment types such as cash or cheque.

And I think http://www.kcom.com/eastyorkshire/pricemanual/P06-S24_KC_Broadband_Max.htm probably cover Karoo setup charges aswell.

Just get another house mate to set up the ADSL account when you move into your new place.

Yeah - my main point was the fact that they you save over £100 - yet they sell the router for £70. As set up is free for all accounts you don't save 'over £100'!

I do realise that it is not available to existing customers - I was told by a customer services rep that if we opened an account at a new house we could do it.

We will just open it in my partners name - but you think as we have been with them for 4 years and are moving house they may...oh wait up, they don't need to value customer loyalty. Cos we have no freaking choice.

Anyone use 3G?
