I don't know if you remember or not, but once upon a time we had a thread here discussing the locations of KC telephone exchanges in Hull and area. Shortly after it went up, I got an email from KC respectfully requesting we take it down for 'security' reasons (which I promptly did).

Ironically enough I've just noticed that all of KC's telephone exchanges are now listed on thinkbroadband.com's Broadband Map. Just pop in 'Hull' as the location and click 'enable' next to the exchange locations box.

Dunno. I'm not sure where they get their data from anyway. Perhaps it's community contributed and that bit's missing?

Thanks for this Dylan.

I also notice that when you enable the speedtest option, its surprising that nobodies speed is above 10Mbps, even though Karoo's service is meant to be up to 24Mbps. Seems that even people living bang next door to the exchange don't get it, although I would imagine these may be inaccurate results, as most people with 24Mbps, probably don't need to test their connection very often, because everything just.. works Tongue

I don't think I can recall having seen anyone every claim a speed anywhere near 24Mbps with Karoo ADSL.  Wink

Just used thinkbroadband's speed checker and the results seem to be a little low compared to speedtest.net

Seems like the server may have some capacity problems at the time you tested?
Losing 2Mbps is a pretty big gap.

The Thinkbroadband map is not accurate, the Anlaby Road (near North Road) exchange is missing.

Also the Hessle exchange is in the wrong place.
Its just off Hessle Square, and just because I have identified the place Dylan will be forced by KCOM to destroy this forum and eat the servers to remove the evidence..

I believe the Cottingham exchange is also in the wrong place...

I am not eating the server (it's a virtual one though so it's not much to digest).

Looks like they've guessed the locations of the exchanges, Hessle, Beverley and Hedon are all in the wrong locations.
