The internet is always faster in the sticks now, usually because of people supporting stupid little start-up companies that have no idea how to manage a network, those companies then stab the city that supported them and made them in the back and run off to give the inbred villages and fields of cow dung the next generation internet, probably congesting things more and causing the city to gain even slower connections.
