To be fair, if the company (Karoo) provided me with a connection that is stable and fast enough for my needs not at extortionate prices, then I wouldn't have to moan about them. They bring this on theirself with their poor services when the rest of the UK are seeing at least FttC with speed that reflect that. So far from their FttC upgrades I have not seen one Karoo connection with speeds that suggest that installation is in place.

Stable !....its a lot more stable than the one you are currently on.....from looking at your previous posts. Fast Enough.....valid point...currently only ADSL2+ up to 20Mb/s...in practice up to 16Mb/s. Extortionate prices....again sort of valid point....but its not their fault there is no real competition and Ofcom won't let them reduce their prices as that would definitely be seen as anti-competitive. Rest of the UK seeing at least Fttc......in your dreams.....geographically >95% of the UK does not get Fttc or FttP.....the actual figure for homes passed from BT is around 5 Million...( probably less as this is from Marketing ). So far from their FttC upgrades I have not seen one Karoo connection with speeds that suggest that installation is in place I miss the gist of this can you...don't know what you mean ?

Not quite sure which posts your talking about but this connection is alot more stable than my old Karoo one and it's also cheaper.
On ADSL2+ I was told to expect speeds up to 5Mb/s, I was on the old MAX packages and only recieving roughly 2Mb/s. Not to mention having my connection restricted and shaped everynight after 6pm. With also the ever increasing monthly costs to "encourage people to upgrade to a better connection".
Im not sure what Ofcom actualy make Karoo do, mainly with their prices, so I can't comment on that.
When I say rest of the UK, im not going by facts and figures released by BT. Only by talking to people I know across the UK and finding out what ISP they can get. People in London, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and a few other towns can all recieve a FttC connection, some to their premises.
What I meant to say is the FttC 'upgrades' Karoo are currently installing aren't showing any improvement after having it installed. Not to say it hasn't improved anyone, but no one that I know of has had a noticable increaes in speed which you would expect.

What part of hull are you in ( general area .....not exact address ). You must be misinformed....the FTTC's have mainly been placed in the areas of hull where people were struggling to get 2Mb/s, they are now getting around 16Mb/s. There are also a lot of FTTC's out in some villages where again they get between 8 to 16Mb/s, compared to less than 1Mb/s previously. Can you give me a postcode where someone has had a FTTC upgrade and not noticed an improvement, thanks

Im in the HU5 area, on Karoo's speed map I was in a red zone surrounded by greens.
Can't really give a postcode of a person I know, but as an example a guy I know has literally just yesterday was upgraded to a FttC connection. His speeds changed from about 6Mb/s to 25Mb/s while running it in wireless. He lives somewhere in Yorkshire, Leeds area I think. Went with Plus Net

Never had any problems with Karoo/K-C. Some people I know had Virgin and received nothing but poor customer service and line stability. K-C are one of the best ISPs there are, just a shame about the 'poor' speeds. Their bundles are great also!

Mardox, surely you are one of KCom's employees? " K-C are one of the best ISPs there are...." I can only talk from my business and personal experience, but if i had had the same issues from a gas or electricity supplier then i would have moved many moons ago.

Nah I'm not an employee -- just never had any problems with them, they've always been very helpful and provided a stable connection :S Maybe I'm just lucky!
What issues do you have with them?

It took them six months to make 4oD work satisfactorily.
Reported in Sept 2010 - told them it must be their packet shaper as routing it over SSH it works fine. No No, not shaper, it's the upgrades in Nov, they come and go, next upgrade, come and go, March upgrade, come and go. Finally in May - Oh 4oD changed something and it was the shaper!
That's not a good ISP, considering it also happened with iPlayer, TV Catchup and numerous other streams.

It was nothing to do with the service (which was adequate) for me. It was the outrageous prices and silly package structures.

I'd just be happy seeing them sort out the packet shaping, and moving the caps back to peaktime only, like on the max packages. Then i wouldn't see a problem with them.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the packet shaping. 20kbps on usenet during peak time? No thanks.
