Hi guys i just had an email from airnet telling me they will soon be covering my area (beverley hu17) and i just wondered if they were any good and what average speeds are. At the moment on karoo i get 6.5mbs down and around 1mbs up.

Cheers

They have had some up and downs but things seem to be much better at the moment. I've been with them since last August and have not regretted giving KC the boot. I could only get 4 meg with Karoo though, so the decision was simple for me.

The same caveats apply to Airnet as with any other wireless provider; it's not as stable as a fixed line. There will be outages and drops in speed. On the plus side, it's much cheaper than having a separate land line and internet subscription and it's faster at peak time than Karoo.

I'd be wary of listening to some of the naysayers. Many of them haven't used the service for months.

Have a good read through the forum threads for all of the wireless providers and that will give you an idea of what people think.

It can cope with gaming when running well (which isnt very often), But i wouldn't say it is ideal for gamers.

If you have no trouble with karoo for gaming right now, I would stick to it. Thats my advice.

Aye. All of the wireless providers suffer from some instability, and airnet has had more that its fair share. You're better off staying on fixed line if you are really keen on your gaming.

Jam, you are and you have always been, great with your truthful opinion about an experience with your internet service.

I for one after working as an employee of an internet company am happy to thank you for your honesty, and in pointing out how you feel about a service which you receive from a company.

I can tell you that after working within an internet company, things just seem to be getting better and better anyway, so hopefully, you for one made a good choice.

I have a wireless internet connection myself now (over 6 weeks,) and I have had no problems with it at all, other than a recent network outage for 2 hours ish, and a slower than normal connection at the back end of last week, for around 4 hours, but before and later on ps3, or with my friends Xbox every few days, all’s been jolly well good indeed.

Eve, no probs. Others like iplayer, 4od etc.. Is great, and probs most likely less, or at least the same as a fixed line provider, if as fast, but second to none plus far and few between. Personally the service I’ve seen after been a normal subscriber is very satisfactory.

Thanks Ricky.

I think it's fair to say that things have improved dramatically (for me anyway) over the past month. The benefits of the connection have always outweighed any instability for me - though recently the instability has been rare. I don't stress about it as much as I used to anyway. If the speed drops right down then I know that there is a problem with a transmitter somewhere and that it'll be sorted in due course. That's the nature of wireless.

I don't game much, so people shouldn't read too much into my views on that. Latency is much, much better than it was.

I was never able to watch iPlayer on an evening with Karoo and it's quite refreshing being able to just switch it on without any buffering (most of the time!).

I for one after working as an employee of an internet company am happy to thank you for your honesty, and in pointing out how you feel about a service which you receive from a company.

Please don't think that i'm slagging you off. I continue to be a happy Airnet customer. I can't see me switching from wireless to fixed line again unless Karoo or someone else comes up with something spectacular and i'm grateful to all of the wireless providers for giving us a bit of choice.
