Has anyone else had problems getting the BBC channels since last night switchover?

We have a digital TV fully upto date with software, aerial cable plugged directly into the TV, performed a full reset of the equipment and then performed a full rescan of the channels (In digital mode).

We don't seem to be getting BBC1 or BBC2. I haven't look at the other channels but it finds 99 in total, that includes the radio channels.

Prior to the switchover I did the aerial test on teletext to make sure our aerial was up to snuff and it was.

Any ideas?

I assume you have Freeview?

I've just done mine and have BBC1 and BBC2 and in total it found 122 channels which included radio etc.

Yeah the freeview is built into the TV set, it might be worth noting that the TV is Sanyo CE28DFN2. I have just read that the Sanyo CE28DFN2-B isn't supporting 8k-mode channels so this may be the problem. I have sent Sanyo an email to try find out if my TV works with 8k more and if not will they be releasing a software update to make it support it.

If not it's going to be another dent in the wallet

I got a letter through from samsung yesterday about the switchover saying that if you couldnt get channels even when they turn off analog and boost digital you still wouldnt get them which i dont understand.

I guess thats just them stating the obvious, if you have followed the correct procedure for retuning your digital set after the switchover and you still don't get the channels then you never will with your current setup. That is also assuming everything on the transmission end is correct and you have the correct aerial for the channels you want.

If in my case it is the TV unable to run in 8k COFDM then I will rather have to hope the manufacturer releases a software update, get a modern freeview box or buy a new digital tv making sure it works in 8k-mode.

Just to add, im not 100% on this, but if you have your aerial plugged into a VCR/DVD player which isn't digital I don't think you can retune your tv properly. I read somewhere that that switchover effectively makes non-digital equipment defunct, meaning thats more equipment you will need to replace or have a freeview box before it?

I have recieved a reply from Sanyo (That was very quick!) and they confirmed that my TV is of the older digital standards, this consequently means it is incompatible with the 8k-mode newer standard of digital tv's.

If you are experiencing troubles after the switchover, ruled out your aerial and have performed the 'Full Re-Tuning' procedure correctly, a non-exhaustive list of TV's that are not compatible with the 8K bit modulation can be found here.

Aye some of the better ones do (you posh snob  Tongue ). Since Wednesday I've retuned about 40 TVs and only come across two that couldn't find Beeb 1 and 2 after the retune. Which is strange because both are top quality brands....or that's what the people at Netto said when they were purchased from there.  Grin
