Would you really want to have Google as your ISP however, a company that is well known to spy on its user base with rogue service's and connection's that cannot be disconnected from unless you have experience in the matter. I, thankfully, would reject Googles' offer for a fibre optic service, it is already bad enough with Google gathering information about you through your search criteria for instance so I would personally dread the thought of achieving this in every other way imaginable. Tongue

Edit: Impressive speeds thou.

And this is why I am waiting for fibre ladies and gentlemen. Grin

I'll pass on that one, Google is a living example of a cooperate version of 1984 and why we should NEVER sell our privacy just for the sake of a faster internet.

And i thought Tesco Clubcard was evil, sheeesh.

Exactly my point... Took me a while to figure out the 1984 reference though (Big Brother).

Quote
C:\Documents and Settings\High Treason.GEOFFSERVE>netstat -a

Active Connections

Proto  Local Address          Foreign Address        State
  TCP    Blah blah blah
  TCP    geoffserve:4406        bru01m01-in-f103.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    geoffserve:4410        bru01m01-in-f105.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    geoffserve:4412        bru01m01-in-f147.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    geoffserve:4415        bru01m01-in-f147.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    geoffserve:4417        bru01m01-in-f147.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    geoffserve:4419        bru01m01-in-f147.1e100.net:http  TIME_WAIT
  TCP    Etc...

C:\Documents and Settings\High Treason.GEOFFSERVE>

I'd put money on almost everyone having these kinds of connections right from booting up... Do a whois on 1e100.net - it's Google. I didn't install any Google programs, but I've seen Chrome initiate an install without prompting the user from inside of FireFox, makes you wonder what happens when you have ads by Google, Google search, YouTube or other services open. Last thing I want is my entire network connected to Google with constant offers of "Use Google this" "Use our new cloud computing" and whatever else they can think of to get your data.

On another note, last time I mentioned this online I got banned from a forum because everyone said I was insane. Shocked

I'd sacrifice my soul for broadband of that speed with no restrictions Smiley

Theres the problem! GCHQ could arguably have the right to know your comms details in the interests of national security etc, Google on the other hand....
