These smart tv's are the new thing televisions .
internet hd youtube is one of the selling points among a list.

Wait till you get it home and find that it dont work at peak times ,

Who is at fault ,the shop for selling it to karoo customers ?
The tv manufacturer for not making sure it will work with karoo restrictions ?
The customer for assuming that they get what they are promised from karoo ?

I see yet another circumstance involving both Kingston Communications' and unintentional hate without formally understanding the situation. For instance, are we aware of smart TV requirements no, do we who-heartedly expect out local ISP not to use QoS and priorities the traffic specifically for this service..no...so aren't we been a little pessimistic beforehand here.

Edit: From what I have understand smart TV as a service uses multiple on-line sources for your viewing pleasure such as BBC Iplayer,  ITV player and 40D est which in most cases work on the vast majority of KC connections already. High definition if many of you arnt already aware only requires a connection of 4 or 5 megabits, so if you as a KC customer can already attain such speeds than smart TV is an option for you to consider otherwise I would generally avoid it.

Or Krapoo's fault for overselling a service then adding ludicrous restrictions.
BBC said a while ago, they would name and shame ISPs caught doing this.

You may have an understanding of how it works, however that fact is ,at peak times it does not work !
and peak times is the time that one would want to use it ,

It is as much use as a chocolate fireguard

So what you are technically saying Grabo1530 is because you assume not to be able to receive such a service that automatically provides enough evidence to be factual for everyone else. As I stated within my last post the vast majority of customers within Hull are likely able to receive such a service and doesn't mean everyone.

So, this is your average speed?

I'm quite certain that the manafacturer has to print the requirements on the box, maybe they didn't, which would be the fault of the manafacturer - alternatively, the customer may fail to read these requirements before purchasing the device, which would mean it was the user's fault.

The thing is, most people on Karoo obtain better speeds than the few users here that love to hate KC, it's probably a coincidence, or else people of that mindset somehow have poor wiring and a hundred updater programs running that they don't know about. But here's the thing, if you knew you couldn't get these services to perform reasonably online, why would you go and knowingly buy a TV that relies on these online services?

Of course I am assuming this thread is hypothetical and that you have not actually bought one of these TV's.

Yes HT you are right the thread is hypothetical ,
I do have a great connection speed I am very close to an exchange I connect at 14 to 15 all day and night except between 6-30pm to around 10-30pm then its severely reduced, add that to any packet loss and that's  what makes it not an option for the new tv's
people say that since recent upgrades to karoo the speed loss and restrictions are a thing of the past ,
that as far as I am concerned is rubbish ,it is only very slightly better ,not just my view but also neighbors and friends connected to the same exchange ,who get the same speed restrictions at the same times ,

So if more and more people of hull get these tv's surely the speeds will get poorer and poorer ?

The fiber roll out is too slow and has no planned  area timescales that I know of, in fact by the time karoo get round to fiber for all its customers ,there could be that many with internet hungry tv's that it will be already outdated

here is a speed test from this afternoon

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1467293146.png

I will post one  later in the evening

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1467539710.png

its getting slower

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1467565978.png

and now at 6.43pm

my LG  47le5900 on iplayer high setting has never failed me even at peak times. Whilst I do not like or trust Karoo it isn't everyone that has problems with smart TV's on Karoo.
It may be down to the exchange you are on or a problem with your line, I live in Wawne 4.1km from the Bransholme exchange so only get 5Mb/s I thought I'd have a problem with buffering when I got it 6 months ago but never have.(I realise it isn't just the connection speed that accounts for buffering but with Karoo I thought I was on a loser straight away)

do you think they may have too many people on that exchange, also the Bransholme exchange had some new equipment fitted a short while ago and since then our connection has been faultless.
the only other difference is I have my modem forced onto ADSL2 instead of ADSL2+ as it is more stable over longer line lengths.

I do tend to think its too many at this time of the evening but  what can be done about that ?

I'd be looking into having the wiring checked, presumably I am on the same exchange, I could probably spit at your house from my own window - I will however not spit at your house, as that would be a rather unpleasent thing for me to do.
