I paid the installation fee with NGU back around Feb-March time and we found that trees were making the connection unstable, due to this we decided to wait for a new node/AP to be installed to get me a better connection. Although no one would know when this would be, I decided at the time to stick with NGU in the hope it wouldn't be too long before something would be installed.
Anyway, the connection instability has deteriorated to the point where even web browsing has slowed mainly during peak times. I am looking for suggestions as to what I should do.
1: Should I stick with NGU in the hope something will be installed, but I would have to put up with slow internet (Due to the signal been blocked - Damn trees!) also effecting gaming. 2: Try another provider (i.e. Sure Broadband) and see what they can offer. 3: Dare I say it, go back with Krapoo and sign another 12? month contract..... Have slow speeds but stability wouldn't be an issue, although streaming would be from shaping.
Or if there are more options let me know
Thanks all

Buy one of these; As for sensible advice, I can't be sure, as I can only speak from my own experiences, personally, I hate "Jumping ship" so part of me is inclined to say stick with NGU, the other part of me finds Karoo to be a good service and would suggest moving back to their service.

As you know I'm with NGU and I'm having a pretty good ride. That said. The internet is very important to me so I will always keep my options open (loyalty from me needs to be rewarded).
What I have witnessed with NextGen is they try their hardest to build to a customer. If they can sort your connection by installing a new node or sub node, they will do it as soon as a location becomes available to them.
I don't really follow the other wireless providers so can't say if they can offer you anything better at the moment. I'd say you need to steer clear of Karoo mainly because they'll want to tie you into a long contract again.
If you haven't already done so, Instead of ringing support or opening a ticket, I'd have a proper chat with Simon to see where things stand.

Yeah thats exactly my dilema, I want to stick with NGU because I know they are a good service (Providing meddling trees stay out of the way). With Karoo I always had one of the lowest pings which was great for gaming but the shaping made streaming impossible, also the slow speeds were terrible for downloading large files such as games.
The 12 month contract really isn't appealing, what if a new node becomes available half way through the contract. Big risk to take and would be paying far more money with the landline included.
Sure looks to be improving all the time and I think are slightly cheaper, not looked at them for awhile so I'm not sure.

If the service is unusable I'd ask for a reduced or waived monthly fee until this is resolved. I would stick with them, I've had rough patches with my connection being barely usable due to construction work nearby but all comes good in the end; you're right near me and I have wondered for a while now if we're being neglected because there simply aren't the customer numbers here compared to other parts of the network. We could perhaps coordinate some flyer drops to try and get more people onboard in the area and hopefully make NGU sit up and listen to the possibility of strengthening the network up this end.
