What are peoples thoughts regarding traffic shaping during certain times of the day.

I have recently found that nntp traffic runs full line speed for me from 8pm onwards. Thought that it was later?

Obviously it runs full speed overnight 12-8 but does not slo for me until about 6pm?

Cannot comment on P2P as I have not run a P2P client since napster shut down.

The original Napster of 1999-2001? or the rebranded Napster of more recent?

Its no way as bad on the current packages, than it was on max, I think they've got the balance right now.

Tested it tonight and the throttling of nntp traffic at 10pm seems to be lifted.

http://www.kc.co.uk/home/broadband/traffic-management

Perhaps I am reading it wrong, but doesn't that page say they slow down Browsing/Email to 10mbps?

But at the top it says "Our Karoo Lite, Mid and Pro services have no traffic management applied on the majority of internet traffic such as browsing, emailing, streaming, downloading, gaming and VOIP"

Then on this page:

http://www.kc.co.uk/home/broadband/faq/#speed

"Karoo Performance Management on file sharing and Usenet traffic (affecting users of this type of traffic only)"

Doesn't bother me, I can only connect at 6mbps, just reads odd.

It looks like it contradicts itself to me as well.

Certainly can't see any point in restricting the Lite & Mid products....if you download too much you pay extra which is more money for Karoo....which makes good business sense.

Hitting 1.78 megabytes/sec on nntp right now. Little evidence of shaping.

I can second that, my Mid plan seems to be able to utilise full speeds on all protocols I use any time of the day. Go Karoo!
