Does anyone know the legalities behind this, the law literature online for the UK suggests to me that they are illegal, as its blocking a public right of way (public parks cannot be fenced off)

anyone know more about this?

"Public Parks" and "Public rights of way" are not the same things.

The public are allowed "Formal ( or De Facto )" access to public parks and "Legal" access to rights of way.

Also access can be blocked if there is a safety issue.....plus it keeps the Pikies out !

And more importantly if its the council then ( as they are a law unto themselves ) they can do what they like regardless.

Ah health and safety :sigh: it must be a knee jerk reaction to that time when kids were throwing themselves at the frozen lakes..
