i've had it personally. Today is the last straw i have been shaped now to bellow dialup speed! max achieved speed so far today is 44Kbits! all for downloading a game i own through steam 2 days ago. Granted that game was 8GB in size but come on shaping me down to this level is seriously wrong. It's not like i do this every day or more than once or twice a month, and i'm going to go through this again since another game i own comes out on the 22nd. So what am i supposed to do? not download or play what i have bought? What really annoyed me the most is now they are trialling a gamer profile! oh great how about instead of developing that why not get the profiles discussed and promised working and operational first! So tomorrow i'm going to call KC and get the ball rolling and get the ADSL reconnected. Shame NGU was a great service and still would be if they had these 'profiles' from the beginning.

Don't blame you, that kind of shaping is absolutely ridiculous.

Does not surprise me one bit. You will have fallen into the "naughty downloader" category I did, I was shaped down to 0.04! When I spoke to Slannesh he complained to me that my "activities" where causing him problems gaming which is why he had personally capped me. Accused me of all sorts and asked me why I needed to download so much data. Guys a liability and I am being kind there. Going back to KC is one of the best things I ever did!

I've decided to go back to my KC connection for all activity until the current FUP related issues are properly sorted out. Upgrading my Mid to Pro2 this week.

Scotty - I was actually the perfect customer, or at least I tried to be. I went out of my way to make sure that I did not incur caps etc, only downloaded within the FUP between 2am and 6am to give the late night gamers more of a chance etc. Bought an expensive router with bandwidth graphing and monitoring etc to make up for the woeful lack of "ISP" ( ) tools etc. I was a very light to moderate user, never getting close to my 5gb daily limit and hardly touching the overnight usage. I needed some distros over a couple of successive nights and wallop! I was in capping hell. No warnings or emails etc, Slannesh actually had the cheek to say to me that when the first cap came off I went straight back to "abusing" the service which is why he capped me to 0.04. I didn't even know I had been capped in the first place! Come on Karoo - get that fiber rolled out so we can consign these jokers to history.

No.....you don't want that....competiton is good ! Hopefully NGU ( & others ) will learn from their mistakes. Maybe then you will have KC, NGU ( & others) fighting over the customers by all offering good service and great prices.

Bloody hell... how things have changed from a few months ago. I was nothing but impressed with NGU, but I have seen so many negative things recently, they have declined massively in my opinion. You did right getting out, specially with the stupid FUP's and what not... what's the point in speed if you can't use it...

Well I just have a 30gb DL with KC which is enough for me but I could easily use up more than 5GB in a day - it should be spread out more.

And when will that be? And indeed why *should* he wait? He is paying a premium price for a service which they cannot deliver.

We never gave up our Karoo - we planned to drop it down to the cheapest level and use it for backup, but that's not been possible yet, with the state of the NGU service.

I gave mine up for 3 months then signed back up to the Mid plan, it's been my backup connection since. The recent usage issues though have tempted my back to Karoo.
