Not sure whereabouts to put this new topic but maybe everyone who is interested in becoming a moderator could put themselves forward here for consideration as they seem to be getting buried in another thread?  PS unfortunately I have to count myself out as I cannot guarantee being able to give the necessary time at the moment :-(

OK, potential moderators. Here's the job...

You need to moderate to these rules regardless of whether or not you agree with them: http://karooforums.net/index.php/topic,1528.0.html If you encounter a situation not covered by the rules tell an admin so that the rules can be changed to include the situation.

At first, you won't be able to ban members. You'll have to put a case forward to a forum admin if you feel a ban is required.

If you are a 'community member' or employee of any Internet Service Provider in Hull you must declare this. Being a 'community member' or employee will not bar you from being a forum moderator, but it may restrict which 'sub-forums' you are able to edit - subject to admins discretion.

Still interested? Let us know in the thread, and tell us why you want to do the job  Wink

I vote for Scotty. He's generally non-offensive and seems like a good egg  Grin

Generally non-offensive?

Sure.. I'll take that Tongue
I'll get that money out to you tomorrow haha.

Like HT, I also put myself forward last time, so I'm happy to give it a go again now.

Why?
I currently use Karoo, have tried multiple Wireless companies in Hull & keep up-to-date with the internet 'happenings' for our area.
I like to think I'm easily approachable with any issues, and you will always get my own opinion of something.
I'm currently doing a Masters in Computer Science, and networks is a massive interest of mine, so I like to think I can help people, where I may be of assistance.
I don't feel I'm biased to any company whatsoever, but this doesn't mean I won't comment when I think a company is doing something bad to their customers.
Don't let me forget this one, arguably the most important - According to the statistics, I have spent 27 days, 14 hours and 1 minute of my life on this forum.

Wow, I need serious help.

For obvious reasons (too soon after NGU fiasco) I won't be putting myself forward, so you have my full support Scotty :-)

Still interested? Let us know in the thread, and tell us why you want to do the job  Wink

Yeah, still interested;

1> I always like to see rules enforced properly, but I strive to find the right balance between enforcing rules and letting people have their say.
2> Although my means of stating my opinion may appear unorthodox at times as a normal member, if given a position of authority, I would step back and contemplate the effects more thoroughly before posting as they could have more drastic effects due to my position, having moderated forums before, I know when to keep my mouth shut.
3> I believe that with the affore mentioned balance of enforcement and fairness, I could help to make this community more enjoyable for everybody concerned.
4> If there's one thing you can count on, it's that I'm consistent, I won't enforce one rule today and another tomorrow - no double standards.

I think that covers what I think I have to offer and why I'd be up for it.

As long as you won't ban me immediately then you've got my backing :-D I joke, I honestly think providing your abrasive posts as a member can be toned down as a moderator it would work fine.

I vote for veteran HighTreason as his prolonged (more so than others) experience of been accustom to community message board's makes him a prime candidate for the position. This is not to say however that both Scotty and WindTechnic may not be qualified for the job but their stands a high probability that their experience lacks in comparison. As I mean not to be offensive by this post for that whoever is chosen I believe they shall carry out the the role of moderator most admirably, I just prefer however someone who has used such things since the time of BBS (bulletin board systems) and Gopher. Wink For instance, knowledge is key and to be apart of a on-line community for more than 15 years (i.e. Duke Nukem) shows that he is formerly equipped on knowing how interact with other community member's correctly when necessary, possess great in depth-knowledge on how such sites are both ran and maintained through experience and understanding the sings of other users with alternative motives for-which I expect more than meet the requirement sough after IMO.

Edit: Also, I fully understand that experience is most certainly not the justifying factor here but given what I am trying to explain under the correct circumstances he can act accordingly to Dylan's expectation if taken seriously on-top-of-this.

Yeh, I'd vote for Scotty, he seems to be intelligent, honest and experienced and I am sure he would do the forum proud.

Okay, looking at his picture he's a right ugly git... but that shouldn't be held against him.

We need two moderators. The two candidates with the highest score get elected, each forum member gets one vote:
