Im on the old Max package 4.
Checked the sync speed other day and noticed it had changed on its own.
It use to be
8124 Down 448 Up
It now currently shows
7165 Down 1021 Up
Not sure why my up is that high?
I know down the street near the telephone pole council have been digging (Replacing Street lights)
Anyone shed information on this for me?
Cheers

I had this problem (and still do get this problem from time to time) - on one occasion I rang Karoo up they told me that they had run a script to adjust all the speeds to help with stability! Either way, I always check mine on a regular basis.

Guess KC are moving everyone on the old max service onto ADSL2 and just capping them at 8Mb. Makes sense since it would save money not having to support two ADSL services.

As long as they don't think it's a good idea to move their tariffs too, MAX packages have 12am - 6pm offpeak and no overcharging.

Yeh mine are also being messed with, and I have noticed a lot less stable line.
DSL Up 15359 kbps / 1021 kbps
Id rather be just back to 8mb as that seems stable, and as the line is restricted to ADSL MAX anyway.. Begs the question whats going on?
Edit: yeh I guess the comment about not having to maintain the old system makes sense.

Someone who this has happened to, get onto Technical support, and find out what's happening.
Might be good to do, as then many people who are also experiencing these issues can have a reason for it.

I rang tech support last week cos I had been having a problem with my connection. I had not made any changes at all to any of my settings or software on my system anywhere and everything was working fine than all of a sudden out of nowhere I am getting connection problems and router starts dropping its connection.
Anyway I rang tech support and they checked the line etc and could not see any problems - my connection has been a lot more stable this past week and I am always getting connected and staying connected - strange, but it does seem to take longer to actually connect now, its like the browser hangs for a few more seconds than it used to do and then it connects fine.
As I mentioned in a previous post this all started after an engineer was up the telephone pole outside my house a few weeks ago - it may have absolutely nothing to do with that and may just be a very big coincidence!
I asked if there was any firmware updates for my KC supplied Thomson router but they said "no" as it was a new model - but even when I put my old 100% reliable thomson router back on that I had used with no problem for about 3-4 years I got the same connection problems and my router kept taking me to its log in page - regardless of which PC/laptop or OS I was using!
I just think that sometimes they make changes that have some knock on effect for some users and some time that they cannot foresee - like they say "if it aint broke don't fix it" - nothing is more true of IT !
