I'm a youtube person so this constitues for the large flash usage. However i had no idea it broke down usage such as bittorent etc too. Just thought i'd put this up there so people are aware.
Flash is misleading actually, they should just rename it Video Content or something, when i first saw Flash i assumed it was to do with Flash based ads not YouTube, does BBC iPlayer come under 'Flash'?
Yeh - noticed this a while back. Very frightening when it puts it visually what you are doing - not that I am doing anything that I shouldn't be?! I know that ISP's have to keep all of your browsing data for at least 1 year - anyone have any update on this?
Personally my gut feeling is that all of this is wrong - that no company has the right to keep all this info about you (I know legally that they have to) but I think they should do the bare minimum that they have to. Imagine someone followed you round town one day into every single shop you went into and noted down every single item that you looked at and then they followed you home and then followed you out on the night and back home and then started all over again the next day - that would be deemed as harassment but no so on the internet.
The EU Data Retention directive says that ISPs throughout the EU must by law hold on to your data including basic traffic data for at least 6 months with a maximum of 2 years, this is country-specific of course, as usual the UK probably opted for 2 years given their track record on civil liberties and their 'nothing to hide' nonsense.
Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) allows around 500 councils and other public organisations to snoop on your internet records too.
If you are bothered about Karoo knowing where you go on the internet or any of the above, consider renting a VPN, then all your info would be under the AllOther category and be encrypted to traffic analysis if anyone is nosey enough to do that at Karoo of course.
Anyone know if Karoo still sell your details on, and if they still require you to opt-out?
