Hi

We've just picked up this thread and want to assure you that we are not force migrating customers on Max packages to new ones.

This was a genuine human error where our advisor omitted the word 'not' by mistake and has been addressed with our Customer Service Team.

We're very sorry for the confusion Smiley

Thanks
Karoo

Chances are they'll price everyone off the Max packages.

Still know they ARE bringing out an unlimited package soon.

I would accept that, if mike hadn't said what he said after that.

Wouldn't it be possible for KC to move those who are on the old Max packages to ADSL2 but cap their connection to 8 megabits as a result. Surly this wouldn't be a problem although this would depend on whether-or-not KC wish to be rid of these packages because of the unlimited data plan factor apposed to the technology used.

!!I stand corrected!!

Well then the only explanation for Kingston Communications' wanting to get rid of these packages is due to the fact that they are unlimited. Now that we have eliminated all other possibilities I am sad to say there isn't anything else to say on this matter as complaining from this point-on only seems like a waste of time in my opinion, continue if you-wish but please take note that KC has never shown any serious consideration in the past to what has been stated by community members on this site. In my experience the only course of action to-be-had is contacting them personally either by phone or letter in order to state your disapproval in regards to this situation.

Yup, can confirm this happened to my line too, I am on Max, yet had the line changed to ADSL2+ before Christmas without any knowledge. I was given the explaination by a guy on the help desk that its cheaper for KC to just do this (ie have everyone running on ADSL2+ connections, although I am sure some people have hardware which wont support it). It was an automatic process now and they just cap you on the old Max speed and shaping. I didn't notice any change except the line was unstable, so I got them to cap it as 12Mbps in the short term as I don't want to switch to a new package. If I ever do I will get them to inch the speed up to the point it becomes unstable again.

What was interesting for me was months, and months ago FKCE did a test on my line at ADSL2+ and it was stable as anything at 17Mbps, for a few weeks, yet when this auto script thing got hold of the line, it stuck it on 15Mbps and it was unstable, losing sync at least 2-3 times every evening. Oh well.

That won't happen unless the Government actually force ofcon to do their job and regulate KC's wholesale prices.

I'm not saying Karoo are going to scrap the max plans - however it does appear that it was indeed the original plan, and CS had been briefed as such. Then the plan changed.

They probably changed their plans after realising that they can just put all the refuseniks onto the same equipment as the newer packages and throttle their line rates back whilst keeping them on their original tariffs e,g MAX = unlimited until 6pm
