Well everyone, just got a letter this morning about my fibre trial coming to an end soon, and that KC have come up with the name KC Lightstream to represent their fibre packages.

they have also done the bundles and have recommended **if i wish** to switch to;

KC Lightstream Home Xtra Bundle which consists of;

upto 80Mbps download speed
10Mpbs upload speed
Free Local calls 24/7
500GB monthly usage
Free uk nation calls to 01, 02, 03 numbers 24/7
180 mobile minutes a month to use at weekends and after 7pm weekdays.

my first three months will be £35 and £45 there after.

now lets have a debate or discussion as to why the price is still as high as that, and why they are still limiting users with a usage meter, for that price i sure as hell know i should be on limited.

so i doubt i'll be staying on that package, hopefully theres a lower one of 200 or so that should be cheaper.

kind regards,

Daniel

Does that bundle offer unlimited downloading during the night, like the current packages do?

Presumably the high price is the continue funding the roll out of this through Hull.

im wondering if this means that the current bundles would see a slight change in there pricing then, doubt it with it being KC.

Stick them on unlimited or increase the usage limits as a sweetener until the rest of us can get fibre maybe, that would be interesting.

Now that would be a nice!
Although in my opinion, there's more chance of rhinos learning to perform acrobatics than that happening.

Comparing that with the current KC packages and it seems quite good. Smashing their current top bundle package. See what other wired ISP's have to offer below.

BTVirginKC
Up to 100Mb Down - Up to 15Mb UpUp to 100Mb Down - Up to ?? UpUp to 80Mb down - Up to 10Mb up
Unlimited download limitUnlimited download limit500GB download limit
01, 02, 03, 0845 & 0870 Numbers free between 7pm-7am and all weekends01, 02 & 03 Numbers free on weekends01, 02 & 03 free 24/7 including 180 mobile minutes after 7pm weekday and all weekend
£49.6/Month£48.9/month or £55.4/month if you dont pay by direct debit and have paper bills£45/month

This doesn't take into account the offers like first 3 months free/cheaper. Or free equipment and installation charges. It also doesn't take into account paying the full amount upfront to save money.

The problem is however, the others have unlimited downloads, yet we are still left without such necessity.

I would rather pay the bit more for unlimited, specially if I have 50Mb+

I suppose the download limit really depends on the user, it would be nice to see KC be flexible with the usage limit and their prices without changing anything else with the package.

For myself I think I could sit quite happily on 500GB, that is quite alot for me so that wouldn't be so bad. Although I think some ISP's use their old usage statistics aquired from their older (slower) packages and use this to justify a relatively low usage limit for their newer ones, thinking this would be suitable for the modern user. But it seems they don't take into account all of the features and equipment that is now available that uses the internet. Internet TV's will be the next heavy usage on the internet and I don't think it will be able to cope with that.

So that's £45 including the cost of your landline? If so, that's not too bad. I'm still waiting for a package that does not require a landline and does not include bundled calls.

You'd think that, but let's look at the speed increase again, typical 16Mbps download X6 = 80Mbps and 150GB x6 = 900GB

500GB is quite shallow. KC being cheap i see.

As another poster suggested, they need to gather the money back after digging all that fibre, but i'd rather pay extra, not have a lower allowance, i hope the packages reflect that.

i've sent an email to one of the people i talk to regularly there, with regards to various questions such as why there isnt no unlimited yet, why the high prices still, and will these new bundles make any changes to the other bundles cheaper?

general questions really, just gotta wait for an answer
