I inquired the other day and was told connections are likely to go live sometime in August.

Dear all

There is no chance of getting ADSL2 in Hull from KCOM since it means that KCOM will have to offer bonded ADSL services to businesses which will conflict with there massively expensive leased line service revenues.

Lite, Mid and Pro customers only I believe.

Perhaps a ploy to get people off the old packages onto the new?

Think the ploys going to work for me Sad

Not upgrading till they actually do it though, I'm sure I can still download same amount if majority is scheduled for between midnight and 8am.

Wonder if they will offer 16mb or 24 and adsl2+ (faster upload) as the faster upload might be useful for my uses.

It wont work for me, the allowances on Max are just too good to give up compared to the new packages. I assume Karoo will be as stingy on limits on the new ADSL2+ products as it is already.

Whats the point of being able to blow your limit in half the time? Seems all a bit pointless to me. The Mid package just isnt enough, and I expect ADSL2+ packages to be no more generous. I mean if its an automatic update I can see the limits staying as they are! I aint paying £30 a month for Pro when I pay £17 at present.

Time will tell but I wont be an early adopter on these new packages... Smiley I will let you boys move first. Smiley

I'd like karoo to work on lowering my ping, played BF2 yesterday (hadnt played it for months) ping was 110+ when everyone else on the server was <50

My line is terrible for gaming, I play World of Warcraft regularly and CoD4 and im permanently getting 100+ pings and disconnects from servers.

Downloading and stuff is rock solid, so I dont understand why - 780k/sec guaranteed when im downloading with no drops or anything.

mine is excellent for gaming, ping is usually sub 20 to UK servers. never had a problem with it at all.

Pinging www.jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=55
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=55
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=55
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=55

Ping statistics for 82.133.85.65:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 12ms, Maximum = 13ms, Average = 12ms

as far as disconnects go i've never had any that i can recall. (KINGSTON     pppoa      83.100.///.///    Connected     905hr 13min 33sec     N/A)

I think KC are real varied in their service. Only problem i have is the unrealistic shaping.

Just walked in from work to a letter from KC

Was surprised to get my letter today as I assumed they would be concentrating on the central exchanges first (I'm on the Brough exchange).

Just found out about ADSL2+ Today via the hull daily mail.

I dont see why i should upgrade from max, to the new packages, to achieve ADSL2+

The limits are craap for 8MB let alone 16MB.

So, they must change! Id like to see more info about the new ADSL2+ packages first, price, speeds, etc, limits...

Just been on the phone with karooo.

Okay.

When ADSL2+ Kicks in, the monthly limit of 75GB will remain. I said basicaly this is rubbish beacse if i have 16MB, then surely im going to want to use my internet more for the speed. More video. more downlaods etc.

She gave me a list of my monthly usages so far nd they are all around the 60-70GB area.

She said, but if you double the speed to 16MB, it doesn't mean your going to use the internet, to download dubble the amount. I was like well if i constantly recieved a decent speed then i would krappooo all over your packages and ht 100's of GB's a month.

The only reason the limits are low is becasue during the eveninf during downlaods, i get around 80kbps. hich spread ober the veening amounts to about 1gb top. Whereas if i was on 800kb download at a night, then i could do 5-6 GB easily.

Then average that over a month, 5x30 150GB. Plus the normal 75GB usage. 225GB.

She sad a survery as done, and its what the customers want, surely we dont want a limit?

Anywy i said im opting to stay on the MAX package for now, as i said i doubr well ever see 16mb down the line, even when im sat next to the exchange.

MAX Is tooo good to give up really.

Damn Krapooo!
