Hello people Smiley

I live in Gilberdyke and use to have the old 3MBps service and got a good 3mbps all the time.

My parents (Dont live at home anymore so doing a bit of digging about while I am visiting) upgraded to the 8Mbps MAX service thing at £29.99.

Its terrible!!!

Download speeds, max are 38KB/s.

Im connected with the following;

ADSL Link                         Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed           1152 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation             18.0 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin                   24.8 db 17.0 db

Can anyone offer any help?
Router is a DG835GT connected via Cat5

My dad did ring KC once and they said we have line faults and would send an engineering, this was about 3-4 months ago!!

Hmm definitely something wrong with that line.

Attenuation of 18db, is very good should easily get 7+ mbps, but its only connected at 1152
1152 I belive is the fixed speed for 1mbps which indicated the line is on max (448 upload) but Karoo have limited the connection speed probably due to stability problems?

The noise margin of 24.8 shows there is plenty of room for a higher connection speed.

So first, have they had issues with the line? disconnect ions etc?
And secondly get onto Karoo and find out if the sync speed has been limited, if it has get them to take the limit off.

Hi thanks for the details.

So you would say those lines stats are good and are capable of a higher speed, ie, around 3-4 mbps.

Connection is solid, stable for months etc. No problems there at all.

Yeah it looks a very good line. Easily capable of over 4mbps.
I'd get onto Karoo and see if it has a limit on the speed set.

I'd just give 'em a ring and ask them if you're on a 1 meg profile and if so, ask them to move you off it.  Wink
