Got up this morning to find I can only get on local websites. I rang as soon as the Karoo tech line opened but after waiting nearly 30 minutes I gave up and rang the status line and was told by the recorded message that they are currently having browsing problems accessing international websites. Then it goes on to say the engineers are working on it.......yeah right!

When is this useless service ever going to run properly? I'm sick and tired of it!

I know most utility based services have problems at some point but Karoo really is a sack of **** and should be fined for the constant poor service it offers it's customers!

Sorry for the rant but it's the weekend and I was stupid enough to think I could do a little Saturday morning surfing without too much bother. Who was I kidding?

Confirmed, I'm having the same issues. Just fortunate that karooforums.net is still accessible!

It's not an issue of not being able to connect to *any* foreign sites (because as you may have noticed this website is hosted in the states!) but looks like a routing issue. *update* actually it looks like international websites are up and down - one minute I can get karooforums.net and the next not.....

I also had problems with DNS resolution (as it looked like Karoo's DNS servers where taking a hammering) so I've switched to the OpenDNS servers for the time being at.

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I've created a news post here describing the problem. We all know how Karoo like to remove problems from the status page after they've been fixed. Lets keep a track of them here ;-)

It keeps randomly cutting my connection here too, I agree the DNS server are shot.
I have to take /forums ext off the URL and enter via the main page, something tells me i'm not getting no americas army time in today lol

Going to change DNS servers too, Hope it eases my pain a little bit lol

Hi there and welcome  Grin

Whilst OpenDNS isn't sorting out the irritating browsing problems, it is making name resolution a quicker so at least you'll not be sat around wondering which one is more knackered, Karoo's DNS or their routing/peering......

Having a little play, it looks to me (although bear in mind I'm not a network engineer!) that any traffic that Kingston is sending off via Cogent Networks (France) through LINX is disappearing into a black hole. Perhaps, methinks a router is going down.....

Hi there, welcome  Cheesy

Checking out the Karoo service status page, it looks like the routing problem was fixed before you made your post. Have you tried restarting your ADSL modem/router to see if that fixes the problem mate?

If it's still jiggered I'd get in touch with Karoo.
