I've just brought a new computer, and when I tried to install the software for my Fujitsu FDX310 modem which was supplied by Karoo MANY years age, I've found that the disc has become corrupted.

Does anyone have a disc that they can PLEASE lend me for an hour or two?  I haven't called KC yet - but I have a feeling that they won't have a disc as the modem is bound to have been superceded years ago.

I will collect and return in person, and there will be a pint in it for someone

I found the driver here http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/TEL/ftel/services/downloads/modems/Rel_1_11_0007Qb_fdx310.zip

You should be able to alter the VPI (1) and VCI (50) settings to match Karoo's.

Now wheres my pint  Grin Grin

Its also here on the Karoo website http://www.karoo.co.uk/helpandsupport/downloads/. Doubt it will work on Vista though, if thats what your new PC is running.

Thanks for the advice guys, however I have tried those sources already.

My only means of connecting the new PC to the i/net is through the fujitsu modem, as (at the time) I didn't see the need to bother with a 56k modem.

This means that until I can connect the new PC to the i/net I have to download software using my old computer, save to a memory stick and transfer to the new one.

When I downloded the files, Windows blocks me from actually opening them (even after right-clicking and selecting unblock!).

As I can't unzip the file's it looks as though I'm stuffed, unless I can get hold of an installation disc.

PLEASE HELP!!!  Wink

<edit>  Oh yeah - I'm running XP

If I was you I wouldn't bother with that device.

It will only train up @ a max of 3mbps.

That's if you can get it to work in the first place.

If I was you I would get myself a router @ £19.99 (Zyxel) and save the headache.

I was thinking about that option - however I'm moving (abroad) in a few weeks, so I don't want to invest too much in new stuff that I may not need/may not be compatible

...the worst they can say is no

...And "No" is just what they said!!!

As I can't find an installation disc, and I don't want to fork out more money than I have to for something that (at best) I'll be using for 3 months, I'm thinking that my best best would be to get a cheap USB modem off FleaBay.

Is there anything specific specs I should look for - I can well imagine Karoo have something built into their systems that means that only modems supplied by them will work with their i/net packages.  Or will any old modem work?

If you can post on this forum, doesn't that mean you have some net access, can't you download it and save it to a disk or usb stick or something? If you buy one make it can have the VPI/VCI set correctly.

No such luck...

If you want to extract the file you will need to install WinZip then you should have no problems unzipping the driver   Grin

you will need to install WinZip

That's what I was missing!!!

I'm now online with my super-duper neew computer.  It did however take a bit of head-sctratching the modem settings in the driver dowload (on the Karoo site!) aren't quite right so it did require a bit of tweaking.

Right now I'm sorting out transferring files, but when I get a minute or ten I'll list out exactly how I got it to work - just in case anyone has a similar problem in the future.

Thanks a lot for the tips and advise

Nosivad,  I owe you a pint!!! I would never have thought of WinZip, and more than likely would have forked out to Karoo for a new router/modem
