It would be interesting to see why LLU Operators such as Carphone Warehouse and O2 are holding back from unbundling at least one of the KCOM exchanges, particularly larger ones which have over 10k lines. They have unbundled exchanges with as little (from what I have seen) as 3000 lines and are still rolling out to many more of the BT smaller exchanges. Also given that the KCOM LLU space charges are likely to be similar to BTs (not that we can see them) if not identical then it makes you wonder what other obstacles are in the way. I'm not sure if LLU operators put their own fibre in between exchanges or POPs, or use BT, or both, but it  is more than likely they can use a BT product to connect their kit to the rest of their network or nearest POP.

So whats the catch?

It seems Sam from Samknows.com and James from ADSL24 are aware of the situation and also the BT presence etc.. in Hull so hopefully there will be more information soon Smiley

It all comes down to OFCOM forceably tellling KCOM to publish LLU pricing.

IF you want a product that it s not in KCOM's Hull retail price book from KCOM HULL all OFCOM will say is that KCOM have to provide you "reasonable" access to its network and all KCOM do is stall you - Just ask Nick Marshall at Hull24.com

ISP's or other LLU's will not enter the City unless their is tranparent pricing and this is what KCOM do not want

OFCOM arnt doing their job under their own terms of reference

Its a conspiracy  - I had exactly the same problems when I deployed the Azzurri / Core Projects City Wide network - an OFCOM / KCOM conspiracy

Hence the reason why KCOM "welcome" competition since they know Ofcom will not force this on them

See

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/OfcomHull/

Any consumer or business that wants a better services and choice in the city MUST SIGN THE PETITION !!!!

Please pass this on to as many people as possible
