Hello scribes, this is my 1st post on these forums but the reason for it is i've been on karoo broadband 1000 (paying £24.99)for long enough now and the speeds for these days are not good enough.I've waited and waited for a decent package to come out but does'nt seem like it will happen. Therefor i've decided to go for the karoo pro package(goes live on 3-10-08).Apart from slow speeds no real problems with 1000 but can i expect probs with the pro, will it just change over and continue or will i have to change anything on my router. Router is netgear DG834pn with (just upgraded) firmware v1.03.36..can i expect anyother probs, told i can expect upto 14mbps at my post code(don't expect that speed but what should i settle for?) Hoping for a smooth ride cheers

Was told i'd get around 15Mbit. Im actually now syncing at 11.2Mbit, and i only got that because i TOLD them to give me that, otherwise i recon i'd still be on the 8Mbit they originally synced me at when i first "upgraded" to ADSL+2 According to speedtest.net, im actually getting around 9.5Mbit. Karoo are bullshitters, dont believe a word they say. Smooth Ride & Karoo will/should NEVER be used in the same sentence.

when you've finished the speed test and it shows you the bit to rate your isp (1) click the "copy" button just underneath your result image then ctrl + v into here.

126.5 KB/s - Your line 1213 KB/s - My line
Quite a big difference imo, and for an extra £5 its worth you upgrading imo. You never know, you may get lucky and actually get a decent service!
Maybe.

As you can appreciate i have been forced into this and i will benefit from where i am now.I use grabit quite a lot and it took me an hour to get 20 tracks but by using 3rd party newsgroup down to 15 mins..this should help considerably i hope.

It is possible you will see reduced speeds on newsgroups during peak hours, as at the moment you'll be getting unshaped speeds on newsgroups, but should see a big improvement during the day. Also you might want to look at upgrading the firmware on your router.

MrX..I updated my firmware yesterday in preperation for Fridays change over.Any increase is going to be smiled upon but i'm hopeing for a significant increase.I work shifts so will be setting it to download during the unlimited download period of 12 to 8 am, with a limit of 75 gb i sometimes go well over this so being able to set my download times it's not such a bad thing.

Hi Ayreon, Welcome to Karoo Forums! No love lost for karoo on here as you probably get.... Dont forget you are entering into a new contract by upgrading! check the small print (which they dont tell you about on the phone....)

Hullnet..I thank you for the kind welcome...Yes! I gathered no love lost for Karoo and i realise i'm entering into a new contract and the implications but as we all know..what choice have we got? After reading some of the trials and tribulations i've seen on these pages i thought it would be a good idea to join and then forward any misfortunes i myself have with karoo....hopefully i dont have to go through what some scribes have been through. Looking forward to some happy posting.

You might need to add @karoo to the end of the username on your router.
I think that came in at the time of the MAX packages.
Changed from "username" to "username@karoo"

fryrpc, Went on computer today and net was down, called them and they have "upgraded" me a day early and you are indeed correct, i needed to change login name. That done with great expectation i did a speed test...yes worse than this morning..is this the norm for this time of day or do the phone calls start here.
