I think far as "mid range" packages go Karoo are probably up there. there are a *lot* worser isps than karoo at the moment. Their "expensive" package just isnt good enough though.

dont forget though people here probably get better sync rates than the rest of the country due to the way KC infrastructure was set up, ie more exchanges with fewer people - shorter lines (also why its a worse ROI for any isps wanting to compete ie more exchanges=morekit)

lot of people i know in BT land have aluminum wires for example, and are about 1km away from exchange but still get 2mb.

Hi

There is no difference in BT's Local Exchange Infrastructure to that provided by KC.

Its Imaterial really since its only on a "line test" from the customer to the local exchange and doesnt measure actual IP download speeds

Due to limited IP connectivity, packetshaping and limited cable ducts giving rise to "noise" issues (SNR), the average user will get just over 1Mb/s at non peak times.

Dont be fooled by the hype !!!!

thats a fairly good sync for such a high attenuation. snr will always drop in the evening. Mine drops 5~ db =(

all the infrastructure in this country is appauling - not just KC's.

KC's issue is bandwidth more than sync rate in my experience. All those graphs on the review sites are scewered because off peak KC is like a dream. we all know the story on peak..

Also the review says "up to 8mb" but KC don't have any "up to 8mb" services any more. The results are probably scewered by them counting everyone on ADSL2.
