From January 2009 we will be charged for the privilege of a paper bill now! FFS! Not a discount for going paperless, a charge for actually expecting a paper bill.
Surely there has to be some rules about this kind of bollox? I am all for helping the environment but I actually find my paper bill bloody usefull, and a handy "proof of address" which online printed bills are *never* accepted for.
*shakes head*

We switched to online billing a while ago and hated it, never worked properly, couldn't log in. In the end, we told them to cancel it and resume paper billing. I don't really want to have to trust this again

Can't say I've had a problem with paperless billing.
My mobile provider, 3, are also starting this £1 per paper based bill... I can see a lot of firms going this way in the near future.

The one thing that really puts me off DD is the fact they will only take the DD on the 15th of the month and it's not variable.
I don't get paid until the end of each month and already pay in advance anyways.
What makes me more frustrated is the fact I pay for my broadband package three months in advance but if I don't pay it by the date on the letter they still charge me the £5.
Just another con to make more money out of us.

For some strange reason my bills have been coming out near the 29th but the payment for last month came out on the 3rd Nov. After transfering back to my old Karoo Max 2 I got a free month the bill said "debited from your account 29th" it also said on last letter I got for Oct bill.

KCOM ilegally "tying" lines with local telephone calls
Dear all
Its is ilegal under UK and European Law to make the purchase of one product conditional on the purchase of another - IE: The purchase of a KCOM telephone line conditional on the purchase of its unlimited local calls services of which affects ALL residential lines (KCOM's "Talk Plan" services) and the majority of business line service.
You cannot purchase an "unbundled" line from KCOM but can from BT.
We should not have to pay KCOM for its unlimited local calls package and must have the choice especially as OFCOM have deemed KCOM to have significant market power in both markets for lines and calls in the Hull area and is therfeore also ilegal under OFCOM oversight to OFCOM MUST INSIST KCOM STOP THE PRACTICE OF "TYING"
Please see below from John Milligan, Partner at Clyde and Company Solicitors who specialises in Competition Law
I checked and we don't act for Kingston so you can refer to me if you want. The charges woud appear to constitute illegal tying or bundling contrary to the Chapter II prohibition (s18) Competition Act 1998, make the provision of one service (provision of phone line) conditional on the provision of another product/service (extra phone minutes at a fixed charge), which the customer may not want, and the tying of which cannot be objectively justified. Where the supplier is dominant this is an abuse of a dominant position. It's hard to see how this would be justified. If it had been previously discussed and cleared with Ofcom eg that Kingston wished to increase charges and regulator said they couldn't unless some quid pro quo, and this was the deal, it would be good to know. In the absence of any such deal, I think Kingston would struggle. A letter pointing this out to Kingston, and possibly saying the charge is in your view illegal as it contravenes CA 1998 would be the right course. Contact with Ofcom as you outline may also be desirable. Regards, John Milligan John Milligan Partner EU & Competition Clyde & Co LLP
Its time to protest by not paying the unlimited local calls part of the service if you do not use KCOM for local calls like I do as I prefix EVERY call with 132 and will demand 3 years backe rental when its proved "ilegal" in the UK courts - I suggest you all contact FIBRESTREAM for more details.
