Just spoke to a guy at this company who said they are not advertising the service, but doing installation by word of mouth only. He is also sending me an Joining pack and said there are already users in my area (Cott road) using the service.

I guess there could be a number of reasons for the word of mouth thing. Demand, installation, market share.

I'll let you know the details whe I join.....  Shocked

Unfortunately, the number 01482 ****** was not recognised

The telephone number you have entered has not been recognised by BT.
This may occur for many reasons, the most usual, a non-BT line or a new BT line.
If you have had a new line installed, contact BT 150.

Thats what i got when i put my phone number in. Another piece of false hope. Stop advertising.

I've got a feeling theres again not much substance to this one... Looks like a one-man-band bedroom based reseller going by the name Ricky Jones

I used airnet for my satellite connection, when I lived on the coast near Hornsea, I think there is at least 4 people working there? as I have called a few times in the past. I was told by Ricky, who owns the company, that they operate from different locations as a family owned company, and there is also call centre for existing customer support only. I have only just seen that you can use them in Hull so I intend to sign up again. I will update you once I get back in the fast lane!!

How out of date is his website:

Yet these days 1MBps (1,000 KBps) and 2MBps (2,000 KBps) are becoming more and more common.

LOL

and

Our Broadband is now available to all KC customers land lines, with our new 'AirNet Rapid IP' Packages, prices start from just £29.99 per/ Month and some of our services are unlimited. All our packages have unlimited upload limits.

Not exactly competative, I suppose if you have Pro then it might be worth it? Although I am guessing from "some of our services are unlimited" at £29.99 you probably are not going to get unlimited. So begs the question why change?

But for anyone on the lower packages its false hope indeed.

Having just signed up to airnet services, I have been told that the contention ratio is 20:1 compared to the standard 50:1, which is great for the price of 29.99. (if you understand the technical side of ADSL services this is brilliant!), I understand your concern about the price comparison, but I also believe that Kingston charge much more than this, for the same services to businesses. I don't mind having a blazing fast connection for this price, I think its also a better deal then what BT offer.

I'd be very interested in your opinion when you get connected!  Cool

But you're posting from a BT IP address! Are you a customer in Hull who has signed up with this provider or not? To be fair, we're only really interested with broadband and telephone choices in Hull.

This service is absolutely amazing! I am on the £29.99 service which is a lot faster then my friends BT connection and is the same price!!! I am getting around 14Mbps due to my location. I asked if they had any other services in the Hull area and they sent me the following email:-

We provide ADSL2+ using Kingston Communications network for nearly every 01482 Number. Our services are up to 20Mbps dependant on exchange distance.

Our packages are:

AirNet Rapid IP1 £29.99 - 50GB Limit (20:1 Contention)
AirNet Rapid IP2 £49.99 - 100GB Limit (15:1 Contention)
AirNet Rapid IP3 £69.99 - Unlimited GB (10:1 Contention)
AirNet Rapid IP4 £99.99 - Unlimited GB (1:1 Contention)

Uploading is not restricted, on any of our service plans.

They are much faster than the satellite connection I used to have, and I am so supprised that you can use them in Hull!!!

I would recommend them to anyone.

AirNet Rapid IP1 £29.99 - 50GB Limit (20:1 Contention), therefore to get a comparable Krapoo connection I would have to loose my unlimited overnight downloads.
Are there any guarantees that it will be a better service than Krapoo?

I am not aware of karoos terms other than I heard bad things about them, and that is why I am not with them. I have read my terms and conditions for IP1*, it seems the evening usage is relaxed also, although it does say that the contention ratio is 50:1 during the night, not that I use it that much whilst asleep! either way it looks like I have a bargain! as I am getting amazing download speeds during the day, and I am not complaining, in fact I have thanked them for such a high quality service. I should mention, that I just had another quick look at the terms and conditions, and It says the contention ratio change during the evening is only applicable to their IP1 & IP2 packages.

Regards Andi.  Smiley
