No, I got it wavered. I said "I assume there is no fee seen as the fact you have introduced a new charge", he said thats fine.
Check your bill Stormy. It's easy for the guy to say that, but I've come across one or two customer service dudes who will tell you what you want to hear, because when you get your bill, it won't be their problem any more

I will do don't worry, but it would be unfair practice and I am sure Ofcom would be interested if a company offered a service which they changed the terms and conditions of without giving you a choice to cancel.
The service has been FREE for years with the clause of paying to cancel which I was fine with, but they have knowingly and drastically changed the terms of service for the consumer.
If thats the case, whats the stop them offereing free broadband? But having a clause to disconnect it there would be a charge of £300 and then introducing a charge of £50 a month 6 months down the line, its worse than the bank overdraft scandal doing the rounds. If people who are told explicitly you will be charged if you go overdrawn are getting away with it, I for one will be getting away with this. I promise you that.
They guy didnt tell me what I wanted to hear, he was an ass to be honest and wouldnt tell me any details or why or whatfor etc. I just gave up in the end and told him to cancel it.
I'll take the case to KC management on principle if this CS drone blatantly lied to me.
PS: another guy who cancelled his who works with me was told there would be no charge.

As I say, if it does I will complain. I and at least one other person now have been told there will be no charge. Its pretty much fair because as I also said, they have changed the terms of the service.

Just phoned up to cancel and was told the pricing manual is correct and caller display is FREE.
Bad news - the charging comes into effect in January.

Yeh, it annoys me that its free on BT as part of the free aditional service BT Privacy at Home as long as you make 2 chargable calls a month. KC are just a set of rip off merchants these days. Less service, more cost..

I'm not going to cancel, specifically so I can complain like there is no tomorrow.
I'll get my secretary to fax Karoo offices every five minutes with a rant, and I'll give the person on the help desk the blowdryer treatment.
Not to mention I'll give Ofcom hell too.
