Hi, I have just changed my ISP package from Max option 4 to the Pro one that offers an ADSL2+ line the problem is when I have my Linksys WAG54GS (doesn't have a version number on it) set up it won't sync to the ADSL2+ line, The DSL light comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off repeatedly. My Etec router is fine. I have tried all available firmware for the WAG54GS but it does the same thing each time. Please someone tell me they can use this router on ADSL+2 as its a great lil gateway.

I'm using the WAG54GS right now, with no problems at all, I'm upgrading to another router shortly though, so gonna be selling this router..
But so far i haven't had a problem with it on ADSL2+

Ahh yours could be a version 2, Have you got the router set to use ADSL2+ on the main connection page ? Mine will work with Gdmt but not the actual ADSL2+ setting. Just recieved my modem off Karoo 'THOMSON TG585v7' shame there is no support for it via DMT-modem tool.

thats why i like the WAG54GS, because i can use the DMT tool to manage my connection..
I have it running ADSL2+ on the main page yes, my router version is v1.0,
btw, i'm using Firmware Version: V1.01.01, on this router, as that works with the DMT tool,
If you try to use Firmware Version: V1.01.03 (the latest) then you will not be able to use DMT tool,

I'm using that version firmware too but it still won't sync. I had a live chat with Linksys support this morning and they told me how to hard reset the router but that didn't help either. Any chance you could print screen your main page for me so I can see the settings you use? Remove your logon name etc... obviously.

No worries,
You must be HU5 - HU6 with your attenuation at 37db right?
I'm HU5, live down the avenues, I can connect at 10000kbps+ but its very unstable, so on one of your other posts i was quite surprised to see you have 11db snr for your downstream, which suggests you may get another 1mb out of your line..
I wonder why you are able to do so and i am not..
My snr at 10 to 10.5mb is usually at 6.4db, and drops below 5db and becomes pretty unstable after 5pm..

I'm HU7, Bransholme. I'm going to try and persuade them to up it to 12-13mb and see how it goes. I'm going to try my Linksys soon with your settings

ah,
thought you where closer to me as your attenuation (distance from exchange) is very similar to mine, yours is 37db and mine is 37.5db..
I'd be very surprised if you can get above 11mb stable connection..
But you never know,
Let me know if your linksys works ok after applying the settings

It's still the same on the Linksys. Gdmt is fine but set to ADSL2 or ADSL2+ it won't hold the line

Hi guys, i recently bought a Linksys WAG54GS Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster (Firmware Version: V1.00.08) from ebay and try as i might i can't get it to work. I've followed the details from http://www.karoo-user-group.co.uk/resources/hardware_reviews/linksys_wag54g.phpand also from the posts above but still nothing will work. Does anybody have anymore info ?? I only bought it because the Karoo standard issue 'THOMSON TG585v7' doesn't set up a DMZ and therefor doesn't allow my PS3 to connect in certain games. Any help would be very very helpful.

Does the ADSL light stay solid? indicating that the modem is syncing and holding the line?
Have you tried a firmware update yet?
It could be that the ADSL driver in the firmware that is on it is incompatible for some reason, as it is with some Belkins.

Hi mate, the ADSL light doesn't stay solid for long. It holds for a while sometimes and othertimes doesn't.
I'm using the THOMSON TG585v7 to surf at the moment so how do i go about updating the firmware on the Linksys router ??
Sorry if i ask simple questions, i'm pretty new to all this settings business, i usually ring Karoo but they've been no help this time.
EDIT - On the Linksys i'm running Firmware Version: V1.00.08 and have seen online this is a bit of a problematic version. The info i read online was i should downgrade to Firmware Version: V1.00.06, anyone any info on that ??
