Hi. Has anyone tried WinXP's Internet Connection Sharing? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126

Is this the most reliable way to donate the Dial-up Modem on my WinXP-Pro laptop to a standalone PC via a cross-over Ethernet-cable?

I anticipate a job needing Internet activation of some products, and I don't fancy metred GPRS costs once their standalone Windows box sniffs the Internet.

Hi MarkF,

I've used ICS before and it does what is says on the tin. The wizard built into windows makes it very easy to set up, give it a try. It does introduce some latency and the ICS server must be on whenever you need internet access. However since you are sharing a dial up connection the couple of extra milliseconds won't make any difference.

Let us know how you get on.
