Well I am seriously considering trying mobile broadband even if it is un-stable.

What’s the point of having an internet connection if your nervous every time you use it that you may of typed something or done something that Karoo don’t like regardless of the fact that it is totally legal.

As far as I know the info is completely accurate.

I'm sceptical, I don't see it in Karoo's interest to seek out off their own back people file sharing, other than the complaints they receive from the agencies that are employed by the industry to look for people illegally sharing copyrighted material. The way I see the story on the other forum is that although the download from the power DVD site was down, it was obtained from a torrent not commissioned by the power DVD people themselves, although it didn't download it would have still been available for upload while it was in the download list on Utorrent. I'm sure people will disagree, but way I see it.

I think it’s fair to say Karoo is not the only IP provider to do this. Remember they have a responsibility and will enforce that. We can whine if we get caught but the simple solution is don't try and take software without paying you all know the risks of doing so.

Personally I am no fan of Karoo and only use them because I reside within Hull.

A friend of mine gets a great deal with Sky and loves to rub my face in that fact.

HullGhost in the thread in the link to "hull ghost forums" you claim that karoo said he e-mailed a .ZIP of a folder with the name DVD 8. Regardless of what WAS inside that ZIP all the evidence ( i guess in this case it is circumstancial) points to him sharing the torrent "he must have downloaded because he then e-mailed to a friend" is what karoo will say (and have logs to proove).

Karoo will not know WHAT is in the .ZIP as their logs only capture names of files, size, etc, etc will not and cannot (i suspect) intercept the actual file due to issues it will cause their sever capacity. Only defence would be to get a real DVD 8 and note size in a .ZIP then compare against the size of the .ZIP of the e-mailed file. But very weak and pointless arguement, other ways are to argue that it was not you who downloaded or router was breached etc etc...

Unfortuantely I will not add this to my growing list of unfair disconnections by Krapoo because as far as i can tell from any moral or legal view they have every right to do so and the evidence to back it up. As for not downloading fully they only know if you STARTED to download... which is logical if you think about it because just downloading 1% is a copy right infringement even if that 1% isnt the TAC or ToS *chuckles*.

Sorry

I don't believe a word of the original allegation.

A 3rd party (on behalf of copyright holder) places a copy of a certain file and makes it available for sharing. They then report any IP address's involved in the sharing of that file to the respective ISP. Karoo do not actively seek such offences. They are required to act when a complaint is made.

They do not track email content unless a complaint has been made by some kind of authority (Police etc).

It is all bollocks. Someone has been caught and is blaming a company that cannot defend themselves due to the Data Protection Act.

And as for Hull Ghost "We cannot be seen to be endorsing this ISP". Who has supplied you with conclusive evidence to prove the claims correct?

Cyberlink appear to be the ones that have reported this case. They will have contacted karoo and Karoo are obliged to act on the terms of Internet abuse.

Karoo are certainly one of the worst providers for the net and are damned arrogant pigs but they will have sent a letter explaining the whole situation which will have to be returned. Personal experience tells me Karoo will of course milk this for all they can on behave of the alleged alligation. the mere fact they cut the net before issuing a warning is disgusting in the least.

But you can't fight them because they are the only stable provider in Hull.

And whats worse is karoo know this and take full advantage of that fact.

Personally the sooner we can get Sky in Hull the better. But thats looking bleak also.

Heres to hoping we can be rid of Karoo and its rediculas over charged crappy packages for the Broadband.

Ok well I am starting to smell a rat here, I emailed the information to an expert that I know and he said its a load of tripe.

I am now trying to get hold of a copy of any letters from this guy that says Karoo has tracked his email.

This guy is not the sort to do wind ups so that begged the question who is taking the P*ss out of him. And why.

His connection has defiantly been cut though that much at least is fact.

If this is proved to be wrong then I will revoke the statements on my site. If its true I will not.

If unproven either way then I will ask Karoo direct about there policies to find out more.

If it is right I understand that they are leaving themselves open to “at the least” major criticism.

I am going to put a note of my forum about it as well.

I’m curious as to what list you refer to by unfair disconnections regarding karoo. I assume you mean Karoo and not Krapoo. I’ve not heard of Krapoo Tongue
